just a couple pics from my flickr

nice work guys.

heres a few misc walk-abouts ive been doing lately.

hey rei,

just out of curiousity, what settings did you use for your camera and light to get that exposed properly? i know youve told me about this stuff before, but i forgot what exactly. all i remember was you would turn down the ambient on the camera and put the strobe on manual to over compensate or something like that. am i close?

im getting into off camera lighting lately and i want to learn to expose more properly without depending on ettl. but ettl is so much easier!:wgrin:

heres an example of what im trying to do:

im trying to expose the scene correctly to that the sky is still blue and my subjects arent in complete shadow/overblown highlights etc. was there anything specific settings i would have to use to get that picture?

expose for they sky and use a flash as fill light for the subjects…

here a couple that I took for the school paper. I grabbed some walk around shots today that I need to process.

so youre saying…
figure what settings i would need to properly expose for the sky and then use a flash as fill.

do i need to set the flash to anything specific? cuz sometimes when i do this my subject is blown out.

shouldn’t happen if you use a off camera flash close to the subject.

Would it disappoint you terribly if I told you that the picture you pointed out was Av mode @f/4, 580EX on camera with hi speed sync enabled, and everything else on automagic?

The secret to that one is that I took it during the golden hour. Golden hour is like easy mode.

 say it aint so!

first long exposure.

One of the more recent portraits that I took.

pretty nice long exposure. i like the ghosting of the train.

pretty cool. one of the better sakura cosplays ive seen. shes even got the vagina elbow down.:wow:

I actually shopped the elbow in, the cosplayer loved it haha.

A change of pace…

'twas using a borrowed Nikon Coolpix S200 point-n-shoot on my trip to Vegas because I didn’t feel like lugging around my bad boy and getting mugged. The original space was very dark, so the cmos went crazy with the grain.
