I want to build this eventually.

So… About those Vigo pics. He did curse me. While I was in the middle of uploading and processing some of the pics I took that weekend, my hard drive shut down. Now it says ā€œMBR errorā€ (Master Boot Record), and I can’t start up my laptop or access the Hard Drive. Those pics (including the wedding ones I took) better not be gone… Damn you Vigo! Scourge of Carpathia! Sorrow of Moldavia! Douchebag in my laptop!

I’m still missing about 300 pics from the wedding I was there for… but here are a few pics from my tour of Lucasarts/film/ILM, and the Oakland Zoo:

I know I’m a dork, but I had to.

Remember the movie, ā€œBatteries Not Included?ā€

The rest of the gang.

The whole facility is nice.

That is too bad about the missing pics. Do you still have anything from the wedding?

It looks like your composition is really improving by the way.

Thanks for the compliment! I look at the histogram a lot now, haha. The tips you’ve been giving on here have helped immensely.

As for the missing pics, I’m working on restoring the files… might have to pay for it, but I’d really like to get them back. I have a few saved from the reception, but nothing really to write home about… Hopefully by next week I’ll find out if the pics can be saved or not.

How is this going by the way?

Not good. :-(. Some guy that I work with said that he does IT work on the side, and he’s done data recovery before. He tried to recover the data, but he said that he wasn’t able to, and the sound that it was making was the loudest he’s heard. I might just have to hang on to the hard drive until I can afford some real data recovery :-(. At least the couple that I took pics for had some other family/friends with cameras. I feel bad though.

On a brighter note, I made a DIY Beauty dish, and I think it came out pretty good! I’ll try to post some pics when I take some good ones. Still messing around with it.

I’m more concerned about the SpyKids posted than anything else.

My Macbook harddrive decided to corrupt on me and now I’ve lost my pictures for this whole year :(:(:(!!!

From now on, I’ll be burning copies of my pics on a quarterly basis.

havnt posted in a while
my photo got chosen in this article, quite pleased because some of the other nominees are tough

you know some very fine women sir.

^ Awesome, haha.

My daughter is at the point where she wants to hold the controller by herself. Its going to be harder when she realizes the controller/stick she’s playing with isn’t connected.

I saw this today and was blown away, so I though I’d share.

Holy shit wow.

I tried to make this DIY ringflash, and it came out pretty well, but the results I’m getting aren’t close to the pics he has on that site. I’m going to play with it more, then I’ll post if I get anything good…

And I just read some stuff about Darkfield lighting… I want to try that out, too. Photography is so fun!

geez, its been a while since ive posted anything here. im going through a metamorphoses with my photography. check em out and let me know what you think.

just got back from the bay area. here are some pix i got up there.

and these are from my recent trip to super arcade. lol…

Had some PMing going on with blooper and we were talking about lighting setups. I told him that I would try a lighting setup using equipment similar to his to see if it would work, and I would post the results.

So, setup is basically, a digital rebel w/kit lens and a 430EX. The 430EX is set to 1/64 power, and is firing backwards over my shoulder. The 430EX is tripping the optical slave on an Alien Bee B800, which is set up in slightly off center clamshell, using a reflector gaffer taped to the light stand.

Here is me using the set-up.

Here is the image taken by the digital rebel.

wouldnt the 430’s flash add to the ambient light around you, even if its at 1/64th? what if you were to… change the position of the alien bee to a more extreme angle… like 90 degrees to the right? will you be able to isolate the light so that only the alien bee will seem to be the only light source? will the 430s flash be dramatic enough to effect the exposure of the image?
