Old SRK was hardcore, but wild and a lot fun. New SRK is more relaxed and informative. They’re both worthwhile In their own ways.
Of course the new school kids can’t appreciate reminiscing about the old school SRK.
They never experienced GD in those days where circle jerk threads were non existent, and mods almost never got involved.
You guys are lucky that Valaris and the others ones are constantly looking out for you babies.
Almost all top players were in SRK at the time, and the popoffs were actually real (concluding in a grudge match at a tournament).
Now they’re almost nowhere to be seen cause 09ers are too whiny, and their feelings get hurt too easily.

it was more harsh specially for newcomers,more trolls,more attitude,more ignorance towards none capcom games, modding wasn’t as severe as it is now although I remember more people getting infractions and more people getting banned. But it was also more fun, more laugh out loud moments, there were more knowledgeable people posting too. Also the gif avs, man that shit was awesome. It was one of the first things that drew me into the website, it made SRK stand out. What the hell happened with that?

old srk was better imo. More top players used to post and the levels of discussion were much better and deeper. Pretty much since the sf4 era, 09ers, this site has become way more casual.
How can there be a circle jerk thread if SRK threads are shaped like rectangles?
Now that I think about it, this is essentially the equivalent to middle aged men watching anime about cute highschool girls in order to vicariously experience a happier time in their lives. Old SRK is just a highschool fantasy to distract them from the mundane struggles of existence…the traffic…the bills…the bosses, the middle aged co workers who wear too much make up.
On old SRK, you probably weren’t shit, the cool kids have moved on, no harem of girls wanted you to bang them and the friendships you made didn’t last a life time. It wasn’t bad though, if you were embarrassed, or angered, you probably deserved it, and those painful memories fade with time, and slowly, you replace them with gentle, sweet lies. A melting cascade of golden warmth folding into the deepest parts of your mind. Innocent, halcyon days that never were.
Nothing changed, we just got older.
I miss classic GD like any other self-respecting human being, but there should probably be one catch-all thread for oldschool GD war stories.
I agree. I’m all for looking back on old memories but these threads come up every couple of months. It’d be better to have one official thread that we can all contribute shit to.
