I like the “old guy” designs, they’re just kinda cool in my mind. I never play a character based on their design though, I just roll with whoever feels the most comfortable for me.
dark emo i guess testament is a great example plus his attitude makes him diffrent from other guys i usually play then again i like venom and guile as well street fighter and guilty gear always come up in my top picks
Other: The villain! The guy who has absolutely no morals and lives to create misery and hardship for others. Talking about people like Dictator, Geese, Urien, etc.
1. What kind of character design do you like the most usually? (poll)
“The Big Guy” or “Other”. I’m not sure why but I have to play the biggest characters of the roster. Maybe it’s because they’re the characters no one likes to play. My fav big characters from various fighting games are Q, Jeffry, Tager and Potemkin. The bigger the better imo.
2. Which game has for you the best female cast, and why?
Guilty Gear has the most memorable female cast I believe. My personal favorties from that game are Baiken and Ino.
3. Which game has for you the best male cast, and why?
This is tough, I’d have to say Last Blade with an honorable mention to BlazBlue. I liked the LB character designs the most from any game.
4. Is the character design an important criteria for you when you decide to pick a game?
Not really but it does help. One of my favorite fighters is Virtua Fighter and that is supposed to have the “blandest” character designs according to most people.
Mature, yes, Vice, no. Her gimmick is being a bloodthirsty pyscho like Yamazaki.

Which game has for you the best female cast, and why?
Alpha 3. I like the character designs of Juli and Juni. They are like Cammy but with a twist. Karin’s interesting too with her counters. There’s also that one lady with the big butt. She’s hilarious. -
Which game has for you the best male cast, and why?
HD Remix. I like the game design as a whole. The artwork is exquisite. The guys don’t look ugly. When they’re about to get hit, they don’t have this stupid look on their face. -
Is the character design an important criteria for you when you decide to pick a game?
Definitely. If I don’t like any of the characters I won’t play the game.
I’m biased toward the big guys (surprise!), but in the end I always main the character whose mechanics/play style interests me the most.
Design adds a lot to a game, but it’s what will get me to try it, not what keeps me around.
Another thing I wanted to mention is that I really hold the GG and BB games in high regard for not only including traditional move sets for characters (shoto style, charge, etc) but also introducing new ways for people to fight (controlling 2 characters at the same time a la Zato-1/Eddie and Carl, controlling environmental factors such as traps with Testament and wind with Rachael, just to name a few).
Originality really sticks out to me, and Im sure other people respond well to it also. I would venture to say that the world might be ready for a fighting game that does away with conventional fighting styles completely, but that might be too brash. Such a game might not do well beyond a VERY niche market.
Ill admit the one reason why BB doesnt stick out to me as an instant classic is because it feels like a substitute for the GG series. Especially at first glance, most of the characters seemed to be just bastardized versions of the GG cast. The game was still thoroughly enjoyable and once you get into it, the characters really come into their own. Again the game didnt SEEM original to me so at first I didnt give it the benefit of the doubt of being really good.
So to really answer the poll, I choose none of the above, opting for new, interesting archetypes and playstyles to be created.

Characters in uniforms, especially those martial arts uniform(Ken, Ryu, Akuma, Abel, ), and those with a striking and unique silhouette(Darkstalkers, Guilty Gear, BlazBlue, many SNK characters).
2. Which game has for you the best female cast, and why?
Guilty Gear. The designs for each female are incredibly unique and vastly different from each other.
3. Which game has for you the best male cast, and why?
Fatal Fury:Mark of the Wolves. The male characters in the game, based on design only, look like they could exist in real life, and their battle mannerisms fit their design perfectly well.
4. Is the character design an important criteria for you when you decide to pick a game?
No. However it is important for me to continue playing the game if the game isn’t balanced or after the scene has died out.
