This is a forum game. On hundreds of forums on the internet, some may regard this game as a ‘forum phenomenon’. I’ve recently just finished playing one of these and I really enjoyed it. It’s a lot of fun and hopefully you guys will give this a try.

Okay, there is a Wikipedia on this game, so if you want a detailed explanation on how this game works, then feel free to check that out. Most of you probably can’t be arsed frankly to read all of that, so I’ll explain the game as easily and briefly as I can.

Rules

This game obviously needs players. So to play, please just post in the thread that you would like to sign up. I will create a list of all the players signed up. I would preferably like 20-25 players in this game. When i have gotten this amount of players, I will PM every single player and give them their respective roles. Depending on how sign ups go, I might just lower the cap to 15-20 people so we can get the game started sooner.

Right,

I will act as the narrator. I will tell the story, announce who has been killed etc. You players, will either be a CIVILIAN or a MAFIA MEMBER. The aim of the game is for either the Civilians to win or the Mafia to win. The Mafia win by outnumbering the civilians and the Civilians win by killing all members of the mafia…

The Mafia

I will PM six people of my choice telling them they are the mafia. The story will rotate through ‘night’ and ‘day’ cycles. At ‘night’ time, the mafia must PM each other (I will make sure all mafia members know who the other members of the mafia are) and choose one civilian to kill. After ‘night’ is over (day time), I will then post in the main thread who has been killed and how. If the Mafia can keep doing this without being killed or figured out by the civilians, they will win.

The Civilians

The Civilians are less powerful than the Mafia, as they don’t know who to trust and who belongs to which group. So it’s easy for them to think somebody is part of the Mafia, and accidentally kill off one of their own. At ‘day’ time, Civilians must post who they vote to kill. Civilians must try and figure out who the members of the Mafia are by voting in the daytime IN THE THREAD who they would like to execute. Alternatively, Civilians can say “NO VOTE” to keep them in background, but, people might get suspicious if you do. If the civilians figure out who the six members of the mafia are and successfully execute them all, they win.

I hope you guys decide to play this, because as a community, I think you guys could make this fun and interesting.

A few changes and additions…

-Extreme inactivity will get you kicked/eliminated from the game.

-There are secret roles in this game. When I let people know through PMs if they have a secret role.

-You may not post anything I have PM’d you in this thread. That is cheating and if it’s done, you automatically commit suicide, eliminating you from the game.

-You may not reveal your secret role if you have one. First of all, that’s stupid because you’re putting a big target on your ass for people to lynch/kill you. Secondly, and it may, and probably will, break the game. You may hint that you have a secret role, but you can’t flat out say that you are so and so.

-Make sure your PM inbox is as free of stuff as you can make it. Especially mafia members. You’ll be communicating a lot through PM to decide who to kill in the night cycle. I will obviously be sending PMs to people about their sides and/or roles, so you need your inbox free.

-You have 48 hours to get all votes in after the narrator has declared day time. If the required amount of votes are not met, a NO LYNCH situation is deemed, and the game advances to the night time.

I’ve played the forum version and it works fine. There are some things to watch out for and also some things out of the narrator’s control, but if everyone follows the rules, all should be well and everyone should have a great time.

I’d post the link to one of the forum mafia games I played, so peeps could see how epic it got, but I’m worried that it might give people ideas. If Ryusuke is still around, he can vouch for how vicious it was–he played that same mafia game with me back then. SogekinguLOCKON also played that same game with us. I’ll have him post up.

This is such a fun ass community game.

Also, I will make a few changes to the rules when 15 people join.
