DAY 0: DAYTIME
The roaring ‘20s. A boomin’ economy, flourishin’ businesses, abundant opportunities… It was a great time to be an American-- and a great time to be livin’ the American Dream.
I remember those times like it was yesterday…
The Jazzin’ Kat was the spot to be. Deep in the heart of the wealthiest town in the country, that nightclub had it all–the swingin’ beats, the finest drinks imported straight from the best European wineries, and the show gals. Who could forget the show gals? Kora, oh, Kora, you were damn fine. A goddamn angel, you were…
Anyways, anyone who’s someone has passed through The Jazzin’ Kat at least once… musicians, movie stars, politicians, the President, ambassadors… then you’ve got the Capones, the Pizzianos, the Marksons… Yeah, even those kinds. All were welcome at The Jazzin’ Kat.
Now, how could a place like this exist, you ask? The answer is one name, SWBeta.
Yeah.
That same SWBeta.
The Godfather of the largest crime family in the country, The Hand. Damn fittin’ name, too; they had their figurative hand in EVERYTHING: Politics, international affairs, drug-traffickin’, money-launderin’, police, rival crime families, factories, banks, showbiz, construction, education, the news, travel, real estate, transportation, mom-and-pop stores, pizza joints, gun control… You name it, they owned it.
The Hand pretty much ruled America from the bottom of the underworld, and it was the secret that wasn’t really a secret. Everybody knew.
And yet, get this–The Hand was loved and respected by everyone.
You know why, my man?
Because they kept the country in order. Under control.
The economy shot to the skies as soon as they came into power, and showed no signs of slowing or stopping. No countries were picking fights with us. Student marks were at an all time high GLOBALLY. Ain’t no one heard of the word ‘poverty’ for a long time after all this happened, and just like that, crime kinda just… vanished. Well, mostly.
Can you believe that? Like a freakin’ dream, right? That guy was a goddamn genius. A bonafide genius, I tell ya. But even his genius couldn’t save him from what was comin’ his way that one night of the 27th at the Kat.
News was traveling around of towns that were being wiped out in a few weeks, sometimes even overnight! Bastards that were behind it would always leave a letter at the town halls, taking responsibility for it and acting like it was some kinda sick game. It was some new mafia group, apparently. I was sure it was a bunch of stupid kids that thought they could take over. Or so I thought…
At first the townsfolk ignored the news. They were so sure that the-powers-that-be would take care of the mafia. But things weren’t gonna be that cut and dry. Even towns that were completely controlled and protected by The Hand were going under. Finally, it hit home when the lot next door to the Kat was bombed.
After that, tons o’ people left the town, half scared to death. It was paradise, but it wasn’t worth riskin’ your neck to stick around and try to tough things out. These guys were pros, and it was all too certain that they were gunnin’ after The Hand’s chain of command.
The night of the 27th was cold. A so very cold night. It was rainin’ cats and dogs. SWBeta was in the Kat chattin’ with the few townsfolk that were left and still had the stones to go outside. These guys were the most hardcore of the bunch. They stayed behind for the sake of the town. With those guys around, SWBeta could take it easy. I’m sure he could even leave town if he wanted to. Those guys were more than capable of covering his ass if he needed to skip town.
All the same, he had to keep appearances.
He wasn’t gonna let a bombing scare him into closing up shop and moving out. Except that one town, every other town outside of the town borders were ghost towns. Finding help outside of the town would take days, maybe even weeks! Despite the bad shape they were in, SWBeta was the same as always… warm, welcoming, and hospitable.
The details from here are a bit fuzzy; bear with me. I think he saw a painting he had never seen in the club before hangin’ on one of his walls. He went to go examine it, and when he touched it, the painting exploded, just like that. Blew the top half of his body off clean and took out 10 other people with him. It got real quiet after that. You couldn’t hear anything except the jukebox playin’. No one knew what happened after that.
Sometime between that night and the morning, the bodies and the mess were gone. Rumors have it, no one saw the bodies being taken out of the building, the doors were locked, and all the windows were shut all night. The only sound you could hear all through the night was the jukebox goin’ off. It was like nothing had happened that night. In the morning, the remaining townsfolk who had not visited the club that night came to the club to investigate, and the doors were opened to them.
SWBeta’s closest friends and most loyal customers were all that were left in the town, and they were all that were in The Jazzin’ Kat that morning. A moment of silence was had for the dead, whose bodies were apparently still unaccounted for, and discussion began.
Being in SWBeta’s company for several years, these remaining townsfolk, some part of The Hand family, knew to take care of business first before anything else, and that is what they intended to do, before they would even mourn. The agenda of their business: revenge. The Hand’s chain of command was designed so that the family could still run everything without a leader to watch over things.
Someone found a letter in the bathroom. He read it out loud:
“We have taken SWBeta’s life. All that we need to do now is break the chain of command by killing those of you that remain, then America’s underworld will be ours. It is too late to run, because we are among you, watching and waiting, for when you least expect. We will make a game of this. There are six of us. Kill us before we kill you all, and you win.”
From the news they had been reading, they knew that this was obviously the work of the new mafia group, and the townsfolk wasted no time in coming to a decision as to what to do.
First, they decided to temporarily break up the family and become individual civilians. Every man for himself. It would make it harder for the mafia to figure out the chain of command.
Second, every morning, the townsfolk would meet at the Kat and vote on one person to lynch, in hopes of taking some mafia out. To them, the chain of command had to be maintained at all costs, even if a few sacrifices had to be made.
Immediately, the townsfolk began to vote on who to lynch first…

10 votes required for a LYNCH
It’s about 2:00am EST as I am typing this sentence. In 72 Hours from now, the daytime cycle will end, and I will update the game.
Players, please BOLD the name of the person you want to lynch. If you want to change your votes, also BOLD the name of the person you switched your vote to.
I will post a tally of the votes every 24 hours.
And also, players are allowed to change their votes as many times as they like. However, after the 24 hour tally, people whose votes have been tallied CANNOT change or edit their posts/votes. So as long as your vote is BEFORE the 24 hour tally, you can change it, but you cannot change it AFTER the tally has been posted.
Let me know if you need any clarification.
I vote for RedD because he’s a douche
Sure looks like this game is off to an explosive start
I know people always get really nervous at the beginning, but hopefully nobody gets too rash and starts pointing fingers at the first people to vote. Logically, we have pretty much zero way to know who is the mafia at this point, unless anybody has something they know but that might put a target on their back.
I agree with supreme jd, just because it looks like he may have actually gotten banned anyway, and if he is one of us civilians it won’t be much of a loss
I’ll vote RedD unless anybody can come up with a reason somebody else deserves the vote
My vote is for RedD because all juggalos need to die.
