SRK Lounge Ver 67. It's my thread I choose the title

I wish there was a way for me to auto-include this with every infraction I give out:

Even with my gender issues and lack of enthusiasm for regular intercourse, I would wreck that chick from the progressive insurance commercials. She was even hotter in her cameo in the Angel series. It would be fiercely glorious!

(I think that picture applies to the entire Internet, nay, the entire world, Valaris.)

Man, Ben Tennyson is such an asshole. Ben 10: Alien Force ruthlessly squandered most, if not all, the potential that the original show had.

Oh, the same. There’s difference merely being a dick and hard-ass leader, especially in-battle, and being an outright asshole and generally “bad” person. Cyclops was never really the latter until relatively recently and he’s only become worse since I’ve stopped reading American comics in general.

You can like Emma Frost without liking their relationship. Hell, a lot of Emma’s fans were pissed off when they got together because they too felt it was out of character.

I, however, am relatively indifferent to their relationship, mostly because there’s an in-universe reason for its perceived ham-fisted-ness: Jean basically mind-raped them from a bad future to prevent senseless bad future from happening because otherwise they were going to never get together and X-Men would split up (for some reason). Well, not out-and-out mind-raped, but pushed them together when it was unlikely to happen naturally. So, yeah.

I wouldn’t know. Probably not. Covers Always Lie.

I’m aware that they knew each other well before Hudlin “wrote” anything, if you can call his drivel in this particular instance writing. Hell, that was part of his (or Dickey’s or both) reasoning for getting them together in the first place, even though he retconned the fuck out of the actual depth of their relationship IIRC. That retconning and the bad writing of at least the start of their relationship in general is what I’m getting at, especially when it fucked over more characters than just Storm or Black Panther themselves–Forge comes to mind–and made the entire nature of Wakanda into Mary Sue assholes who withhold cancer cures. I never even said anything about monarch getting married being odd; I’m not sure where you got that from at all.

For the record, I believe that Storm and Black Panther’s relationship could have worked out a lot more naturally and even turned out well if they really had together just because they’re both “African-American” (which, as I brought up earlier, doesn’t even apply to either of them). At the very least, it could have been done in a manner that induced a lot less cringing and came off a lot less forced than it did and, partly because I haven’t read comics in three years, still does.

The Damned you son of a bitch! Gone for months and one of the first things you do back is post a TVTropes link!

Holy shit the gem system in SFxT. That game is hot trash. I used to pull for Ono at times but this is hot garbage. The great things about fighting games is that you didn’t have bullshit like this to begin with and now they are shitting all over that. So now, because of the gem system, discussion on games are going to degenerate unto what build of Ryu you have and all sorts of stupid shit.

Fucking holy hyperbole, people can barely discuss playing characters properly now they’re going to live in their own mastubatory fantasy on their dream build for characters. Ono needs to move on to some other shit.

My only issue with the Marriage was grabbing Dickey for it. Made it seem like more of a stunt than a genuine story arc. Like “Here is BLACK LOVE as written by a BLACK ROMANCE WRITER!”

I just seemed like they took two characters that could have had a relationship that could have been built over time in a great manner and turned it into a reader grab. I hate the make up to break up antics of peter parker but I would have liked a relationship akin to Kitty and Colossus where they just don’t immediately tie the knot.

Fucking stream!

I haven’t read about the gems yet. What’s with the junior cabinet that comes with special edition???

I think that it is a bank for your change, shaped like an arcade cabinet.

I wanna name my child Homerun Touchdown. I’m fairly certain that will guarantee him a future in professional sports. I mean, who are you going to draft? John Smith, or Homerun fucking Touchdown?

(Man, it’s weird seeing Timmy Olyphant with shorter hair in Dreamcatcher.)

I still have paid very little attention to Street Fighter x Tekken, so all this talk of gems is just reminding me how long it’s been since I played Pocket Fighter.

Uh, no on both counts. I’m going to have to abuse the bold function to show what I’m getting at it seems.

If Wakanda were genuinely isolationist, then they (or at least, Black Panther, who’s their leader) wouldn’t interfere so damn much in outside world affairs. You can’t want to both open more to the world and withhold knowledge that would save literally millions of lives with some bullshit pretext that “the world isn’t ready for it”; it’s not like it’s advanced technology that can be weaponized–it’s fucking a cure for cancer. Besides, I liked it better when Wakanda was merely a rather advanced as a nation despite its isolationist policies because Black Panther specifically went out of his way to build up that way. As it stands now, with the retcon, it’s just some Mary Sue utopia for assholes who withhold vital information from the rest of the world that Black Panther just inherited rather than made, which undermines Black Panther as well–yet for some reason, this is something you’re completely fine with despite how much you constantly mention him.

As fo0r Forge, I never said preferred their relationship to Black Panther and Storm being a couple. I mean, I do, but I was more pissed that they made Forge go insane after Decimation as part of a way to get rid of him/kill him off (which was completely unnecessary given that T’challa and Ororo were already together and married even) in a Die for Our Ship move than anything else. I was more getting at the fact that unlike T’challa and Ororo’s relationship, Forge and Storm’s relationship was actually natural and realistic, partly because it was off and on.

Often annoying soap opera-esque nature of comic books aside, I’d prefer a rocky relationship where things perhaps ultimately don’t work out but the parties involved can still be friends or at least not viciously hate each other compared to some bullshit Strangled by the Red String “relationship” with no build-up outside of a retcon. I just don’t see how people find two characters longingly staring into each other eyes because it’s “true love” and telling each other how much they love each other and how strong each other is and how true this feeling is and whatever other platitude that can be expressed ad naseum comes off as anything desirable/not flat. It’s even worse because pretty much all of it was done solely because they’re both “African-American”–which they aren’t even–and popular when it didn’t have to be.

As it stands now, Black Panther’s and Storm’s relationship/marriage/Star Wars “love” story is basically Twilight specifically for black people. And that really doesn’t reflect well on either of them.

Hey, I wasn’t gone for that long. Like a month, tops.

Regardless, I only posted one link when I could easily posted half a dozen that were relevant. I could easily give half of this thread into white shadow’s tab problem if I wanted to, so don’t tempt me.

I stopped reading there due to my mind breaking down.

Due to being white. And Canadian. Position: Fat pitcher. Gets his weight from his mother.

But Emma barely had any fans until she took over Iceman’s body and showed him how badly he was squandering his powers. Her fans then quintupled (from about 5 to 25).

Naw see… the mind-rape didn’t happen until AFTER Scott was mindfucking Emma (BTW… when Scott was “mindfucking” Emma… would we say he literally mindfucked her? Or is that still metaphorically speaking? I mean… he was having an affair on the astral plane). IMO, Scott went out of character as soon as he started fucking Emma in her/his/their brain. But for some reason, the fans loved this and a lot of them turned on Jean.

Bastards. It’s always supposed to be Scott & Jean. Period. Don’t change stuff just to be different and put your mark on a book. That’s fucking lame and one of the main reasons I stopped buying comics and stopped reading them for a long time.

This has been THE INVINCIBLE SWORDSMAN saying:

In Conan The Destroyer, Wilt doesn’t really look THAT MUCH taller than Arnold. How tall is Arnold? 6"5?

I beg to differ.

Literally the only major problem with Superman as a character is that he is not and never has been baller.

Tony Stark? Baller. Batman? Balling out of control. Superman? Not baller.

What happened then? I’ve read about it numerous times, but never actually found the issue or anything. It was supposed to explain how Iceman is an Omega level mutant…

I actually was a catcher up until I finished high school.

And hell naa, with a name like Homerun Touchdown, he will be in the NBA, with a side order of NHL.

Also, there’s a monster in Conan The Destroyer that looks incredoribly similar to the super orcs from Lord of the Rings.

This has been THE INVINCIBLE SWORDSMAN saying:

When comes to tiers of ugly women, Grace Jones was always in a tier all by herself. RIP Grace Jones.

Much as I enjoyed Pocket Fighter (and Gem Fighter!), the first thing I thought of was the gem system in Marvel Superheroes. I kind of missed out on X-Men: CotA. Even though they had it at the arcades I went to, I never did play it for some reason, so MSH was my first Marve/Capcom game.

(has no idea who Graces Jones was)

I really don’t know why I can type literally pages of responses to people, but have the most difficult time getting the motivation to actually write anything remotely fictional. It’s quite…annoying.

Lol.

Oh, you meant back that far before their relationship was even remotely physical. Meh.

It’s arguable how out of character he was by then considering all the problems the Phoenix Force was causing between him and Jean. Hell, the same thing happened with Madelyne Pryror.

I wouldn’t be surprised if people were less happy that Emma and Scott were mentally hooking than just that Jean was available to get with Logan “legitimately” now that Scott had merely contemplated cheating.

That’s pretty much a given when it comes to non-finite comics, though, which is a large part of the reason that I stopped reading them.

You mean after she took over his body? Or…?

Clarify “then”.

tries to keep from snickering immaturely

I see.

Yeah, MSH was good, but I think didn’t remember it partly because I played a lot of X-Men: Children of the Atom, which oddly gets a lot more attention than it seems even though I don’t remember MSH being a bad game at all. (Maybe it was, though, due to how some of the gems ended up working from what I vaguely remember.)

The X-Men arcade game also being more memorable for its corny lines and beat-'em-up style doesn’t help it either.

sig-worthy, this is.

-Starhammer-

IIRC, Emma gave up control of Iceman (can’t remember how and why) and Bobby got mad about how she could do more in about 2 days then he could do with his power in his entire life and tried to get revenge on her for little while. I think they actually had a kinda weird flirtatious relationship for awhile too? (Not sure about that either).

Iceman’s power is to pretty much turn anything into water or ice and since 80%+ of humans are made of water and 80% of the world is on top of water well… you get the idea. And of course, he’s practically immortal because he can regenerate any body part that breaks. Thing is… Bobby has always been a fucking idiot and a class clown. Emma showed that he can even turn into water or a gaseous vapor and shit. Iceman never even thought he could do shit like that.

This has been THE INVINCIBLE SWORDSMAN saying:

Man… I forgot how attractive that blonde was in Conan The Destroyer. I wonder what her name is?

EDIT* Olivia D’Abo. Apparently she’s also done some voice work in Batman Beyond and in the Ultimate Avengers movies.
