I hate time warner so much. Im playing marvel this morning and realize i never changed my network settings back from when i was at the condo and plugged directly into a modem and that this muat be the reason the connection has been so ass recently. So i put the settings back so my virtual servers are up, ports forwarded etc, and as the final step i reboot my modem by unplugging, and when i plu back in…no internet. Yep, just a solid power light and blinking cable light. What the freakin frak. I call tw and of course they cant do crap except schedule to send a technician out. Five minutes before my modem was working fine and yet now a technician has to come out?? I mean heysoos freakin christ. So i tell the guy on they better bring a new modem with them because im smashing mine to bits when we get off the phone. He says ok he’ll make a note. Later i smash the modem into my wall a couple times but it does more damage to the wall. I leave and get something to eat, try to reboot it again, still doesnt work so i stomp it until all the lights go out.
I wish Fios would spend less money on advertising and more on actually MAKING THEIR PRODUCT AVAILABLE TO THE PUBLIC.

Google ad sense pays out 1 cent per ad click. I don’t know how much these various ads pay, but I can’t imagine they’d be that much more profitable. An annual 25$ premium membership would be worth 2500 clicks. In my 8+ years of posting on this site, I have clicked on the ads exactly ZERO times (and don’t ever plan to click a single ad). So I don’t see how its more profitable.
I think the secret is you have to be able to do it on your own time.
My school has a terrible CS program too so I actually do all my learning when I am not in school. You just have to find something you enjoy doing in your off time.
You can make money both by add clicks, and using impressions.
So it doesn’t matter if you don’t click, becuase that shit still going to load for you to see.
In a nut shell a website that is small is better off using things like premium, but a website as big as SRK I myself would go with ads.
It’s kind of a long story, but I was out of school for a while and now I’m back doing an economics degree. Answer to second question below.
Bingo. I never went out of my way to learn stuff in my off time, I was more interested in hitting up arcades or gaming at home than screwing around making C++ programs. You need to be that kind of person to really succeed in CS, and I definitely wasn’t.
The other thing in my case is that I started university really young, and wasn’t mature enough to put in the required work. Things are different now. I’m in a program where I have a lot of relevant experience, and I take it a hell of a lot more seriously, mostly because I fully understand the consequences of failure.

Wrong. Adsense doesn’t pay a set price per click. It depends on the ad and the price paid by the advertiser for the related keyword.
