played marvel against real people offline for the first time in non-tournament setting. It definitely revitalized me a little…I have been down on myself this past week and really, really frustrated by psn netplay so it was good to get in some real matches.

Think about it, for the most part, Doctors :
A) Want to make the most out of a degree they couldn’t use until their 30’s.
B) Still paying off their massive student debt (College/University, Med School)
They do make a ton of money, but when it’ll be a while before they can spend leisurely.
Either way, doctors, lawyers and engineers are really broad jobs, so it’s not like you’re always guaranteed a fortune.

There could be many reasons.
- they actually enjoy their jobs.
- retirement is boring. lots of people go back to working after retiring. playing gold is only so entertaining.
- poor money management. being a doctor doesn’t make you financially literate. they may make more money, but a foolish doctor (or the wife they foolishly married) will spend more as a result. blame it on the rampant materialism and consumerism of moronic americans. some doctors aren’t immune.
Why not? Its a great degree with great jobs. What’s not to like? I have no regrets. Well, my only regret was that I went to University of Washington instead of Carnegie Mellon, their rankings are relatively close, but Carnegie Mellon seemed like it would have been incredible. It was just … expensive. If you’re really worried about outsourcing (and I’m not) you can transition into becoming a PM, or, a lot of my colleagues ended up going back into law school (patent lawyers who understand CS is a great niche with little competition), or to get an MBA (again, CS + business = great niche).
Depends what you mean by “worth it”. Education is always worth it. It will enrich your life. If however your motivation to attend college is to increase your earning power… Then things change.
If you’re going to get a worthless degree such as history or literature, then no. I’d say go to the cheapest state school you can, or better yet, do community college the first few years, and then transfer. That’s because liberal arts degrees are worthless in terms of earning power, so you want as little college debt as possible. You can always transition into law school afterward, which is a valid strategy that a lot of liberal arts majors pursue.
Also, keep in mind a significant portion of millionaires never attended or even finished college. If your goal in life is to make lots of money, you don’t need a college degree. Its pretty “worthless” in that regard. I’ve been working for 5-6 years now, and if you have good connections, social skills, leadership skills, and are at least competent at your job, you will go far in life. That’s not something they can really teach you at school.

I should clarify, Computer Science was a bad decision for me. I ended up hating it and pissed away a lot of money. It didn’t help that my school had a really shitty CS program but I don’t think I would have done well regardless of the school I went to.
I still think anyone considering CS should look into Engineering.
Final Round was fucking awesome. Combofiends Spencer/Taskmaster work was inspiring.
