I once saw a YouTube video of The Shining re-edited to look like a family movie. Context matters.
Community is a completely different kind of show–self-referential, post-modern, pop-aware. Not just the characters, but the show itself. BBT is a sitcom about scientists and Community is a sitcom about sitcoms.
I mean, come on. When BBT does the Spock archetype, it’s a self-deluded, Daffy Duck version. When Community does Spock, it’s a character who points out every cliche situation like he has a direct linkup between his brain and TV Tropes. Completely different sensibilities.
I think we’re talking about different shows. Community isn’t shot documentary style at all. I also hate that style, which is why I could never get into The Office or Modern Family.
They have to say that shit. Pretty much every call center forces its reps to include a “can-do” statement in every call. Some reps can make it sound natural, but speaking as a former call center worker, it always sounds phony and forced to me. The one that bugs me is that they’re forced to always ask if there’s anything else they can help you with, even if the customer explicitly states they’re calling about one thing or they don’t need anything else. I can’t count the number of times I’ve been asked if there’s anything else I need when I’ve explicitly stated that I have everything I need.
I don’t blame the reps, I blame their dumbass management.
True, context matters, but I see it as another example of “this is funny! you laugh now!”. I agree that Community is a completely different show. I guess it just appeals more to my sensibilities than BBT.
Fuck yeah 90210 is back with the new season… Jessica Stroup once again goes into strong consideration for Magnificent 5™ status.
Oh and on the sitcom topic here… I once caught a bit of “How I met your Mother”, and it was painfully stale. That’s pretty depressing hen you’re sitting there, giving a show a chance to entertain you, and it fails to do so. I can’t even remember if I’ve watched Big Bang Theory or not.
BBT, yeah. Not a bad show, but I can’t say I found it lol funny. I liked “getting” the humor, but I didn’t really like the characters. The only recent sit-com I find to be really funny is HIMYM.
Just recently got into Criminal Minds, that reminds me. Great show. Really anxious for the return of Supernatural!
so a latino guy called me today and was like “con ju buil me a compyutar?” i was like “yeah i can do that.”
“ok how mach”
“well that’s up to you and how much you want to spend”
“ok… $200.”
“heh heh, i don’t know if i can make it for that much”
“YU say pick price i pick price”
“ha ha yeah i know. i don’t like building computers for too cheap because they can break easily. i’ll do some research to see if i can make one between $500 an $700. call me back tomorrow”
“ok”
fuck it. i already built a BEAST MODE system, i’m gonna try to make a $200 computer
challenge accepted.
SFxT is the ugliest shit I have ever seen(since SF EX series). I recall reading somewhere on SRK that SFIV is the best 2D FG visually this generation. Fucking jokes SRK got around here. People can’t be serious with comments like that.
Back to SFxT. I’m a SF fan. A Tekken fan. Both being in the same game should sound good to me right? But then I see SFxT. I am disgusted upon sight. The game literally makes me laugh it’s so bad from what I’ve seen. And it has shitty music just like SFIV. People are like you gotta play SFxT! It’s amazing. That game better be so damn good that men will bitch slap their women for trying to give a blowjob while they play SFxT.
Praise be to Ares games like VF5 FS, KOF XIII, and Tag 2 are coming out.
yea. SFxT looks fun, but then I realize its done by capcom and lose all interest in it. Capcom failed me too many times with everything only hope I have for them left is Asura’s Wrath.
We got a Batman pinata for my buddy’s birthday once. We didn’t have a rope to hang it, so we took turns standing on a chair and holding it up by hand. I think we all got our knuckles busted that night.
