Damn language barrier. Worst thing about living in the U.S. is how hard it makes it to talk about music. You grow up listening to all this music that is almost impossible to relate to others because of the language barrier. Makes me wonder how many songs from other places I’m not enjoying because I can’t understand the lyrics.

I remember listening to The Herd a few months ago and Colin summed up the Beatles pretty good imo. I cant remember exactly what he said but it was something along the lines of them being a little too hokey and whimsical.

Puerto Rican, for better or worse. I grew up with this repertoire of beautiful music both in instrumentals and lyrically that I cannot relate to hardly anybody because of the langauge barrier. What’s even worse is having to constantly hear people harping about how all the people who are writing in English are the best at XYZ.

This is pretty much the anthem of all immigrants. Is it about longing for Puerto Rico in the lyrics? yeah but thematically it hits everybody in the gut. Hell my two favorite songwriters are from Panama and the Dominican Republic (I have them both on equal status).

You don’t have to explain that to me, sir. My girl is Puerto Rican. She’s translated some of the songs that she listens to, and GOD DAMN, you guys put all KINDS of feelings in your music. Spanish music in general has a very different cadence to it when it comes to lyrical meaning. It’s interesting.

It’s good, thanks for asking. Weird shit happens on occasion, but for the most part it’s good. I’m walking slower, but that’s about it. I’m having to do weird ass breathing excercises to try and fix my lung. That’s been the bad part, but whatever.
And yeah, I should be at Evo. Don’t know if I’ll be drinking, but I’ll be there.
