you can also get locked up for not paying debt. apparently there are a few cities (chi-town for sure) that creditors will ‘send you notices’ to pay them but don’t really do it, then you get sent to court and that’s that.
got that from that there npr this morning on my ride into work, seems pretty fucked. the lady’s dad posted bail, which was $500, only to have that go to the fucking creditors and she remained locked up.
why mandatory? there’s already a punishment for not going to school…lower wages.
i thought wage garnishments, levy’s and interest were the extent of debt collection outside of taxes, like bank loans and such.
yeah there shouldn’t be any ‘debt prisons’ but sure enough this broad is in jail for not paying a creditor who supposedly didn’t send her any kind of mail prior to the subpoena and lockup.

Well it says they had the rights 3 years ago, you were right about that, but then they did nothing with them and now they have a show that is a crappy rip off of Fables.
That makes it even worse considering they had the rights, did nothing, then made a shittier version of the comic. It’s like they wanted to get away with making an adaptation but not deal with the fans complaining how different it was because it wasn’t “based” on what the fans liked.
watched Drive last night. such an amazing movie. NWR is becoming one of my favorite directors.
