i need a new avatar of jesse the body from predator toting the mini-gun, i would also consider changing my name to Blaine but i’m not sure i want to commit to that.

this cant be real… can it?
Aizen is Kubo’s self insert character whose power represents his ability to make fans through out the world believe that this crap he puts on paper is actually gold.
(Suffering Sappho! Zac Efron looks completely different with beard stubble.
goes back to forgetting he exists)
Must. Work. Constructively.
continues watching Mario Party videos on Youtube
That series of games is so much more fun when you don’t have to deal with the bullshit its spews firsthand. Then, it’s probably more fun just because other people who aren’t you are suffering. Schadenfreude!
Heh. That’s rather apt considering I’m sure touching a Bleach manga that I actually had to buy would have made me realize even earlier that it was (going to turn into) crap.
Which is weird, because as what’s essentially a Mary Sue, Aizen actually works, which is pretty rare. For one of the too many examples of Mary Sues that don’t work, see every role that Milla Jovovich has played aside from Fifth Element.
Oh shit, it’s a LIKE-OFF.
GET AT EM
How does that even work?
PM’d. I’ll be checking mine regularly for the next half hour or so.
What happened to you Dillon? You used to be someone I could trust.
Hey, I am outsourcing a problem to SRK’s collective braintrust.
Pluralizing Acronyms ending in “S”…how do you do it?
First…the accepted rule for general acronyms is to just add a straight “s” to the end, with no apostrophe. Otherwise it confuses pluralization with possession. For example…
Good: There are a lot of SOBs in here.
Bad: There are a lot of SOB’s in here.
Good: That SOB’s cooking is delicious.
Now…what do you do with acronyms ending with the letter “S”? For example, POS. What is the plural of POS?
- POSs
- POSes
- POS’s
I have actually no idea which is the “proper” way to do it. I’ve found literature that supports all three as the correct option. (1) and (2) look really weird to me, but (3) messes with the possessive. (ie. Conflicts with a sentence like “That SOS’s signal is strong.”) Generally common use trumps actual grammar rules as well, but none of these seems right to me. But in these cases it’s usually might makes right, so I’m curious as to what the majority says.
Consider also what happens when you combine plural with possessive. (ie. “All those POSs’ dishes are delicious!”) Assuming we just add an apostrophe by itself at the end of a word ending in “s” to indicate possession…
- POSs’
- POSes’
- POS’s’
WHAT THE FUCK
I’m going with #1: POSs.
The last word in that acronym is “shit.” Since there’s no “s” at the end, you would have to add it at the end when describing a group.
You use the pluralized form of piece so it stays the same you filthy amatuer.
what kills me is when using a or an before a word that uses the vowel sound but doesn’t begin with a vowel. It hurts me to do.
I’m imagining gay dudes thanks to this thread and it is making me laugh. Like two burly guys lying in bed, holding hands. I don’t even know why I find this so funny.
preach on brother.
FF6 is my favourite Final Fantasy. Not of the post-SNES era FFs have come close to its character and story depth. Also, best villain is Kefka. Only one that comes close is 7. Yeah, yeah it’s overrated but I still like it.
FF4 Gameplay 5, Story 8, Characters 8
FF5 Gameplay 9, Story 5, Characters 6
FF6 Gameplay 9, Story 9, Characters 10
FF7 Gameplay 9, Story 8, Characters 7
FF8 Gameplay 6, Story 6, Characters 4
FF9 Gameplay 7, Story 7, Characters 7
FF10 Gameplay 8, Story 7, Characters 1
haven’t played games outside of this range enough to have an opinion about them.
Well, Tactics is actually my favourite and scores 10 in each category, but like others have said it doesn’t count.
I have never finished any Final Fantasy game, I think I don’t have the attention span required to play JRPGs. And yet I put like 100 hours into Mass Effect.
Is it considered uncouth of me to suggest FF7 was the best? Got dem Tifa tittays.
Well my thinking is that the acronym actually becomes a word on its own, it’s not like a mathematical formula where you can expand the acronym out into its component words. That defeats the purpose of even using an acronym to start with.
Or are you saying that’s how everything should be done, like on a case by case basis? Like pluralization rules for Giant Hairy Mice (GHM -> GHM) would be different for Giant Hairy Rats (GHR -> GHRs)? Does that make sense…?
So I should never be saying POSs (“piece of shits”) as the plural, I should always be saying POS (“pieces of shit”)? What if my intention was to convey how I actually believe they were made specifically out of a combined form of shit from multiple source assholes instead of just one single asshole, ie. a single malt shit. That would be piece of (multiple) shits versus pieces of (singular) shit.
Maybe that was a bad example. The point is to use a completely generic, generalized, hypothetical acronym - we are determining theoretical grammatical rules, right? You have an acronym…say it’s ABIS. Without knowing what it means, what’s the plural form?
- ABISs
- ABISes
- ABIS’s
The plural of POS is POS’
I suppose. Acronyms are weird
Doesn’t Chrono Trigger take every FF game, put them in a neat little pile and empty its bowels onto them?
No, that’s the possessive form of the word, not the plural. For example…
A) That POS’ dog is really annoying.
B) Those POSs all have annoying dogs.
C) Those POS’ all have annoying dogs. -> doesn’t work
…or does the possessive form of an acronym ending in “S” disregard normal rules?
Like…
D) That SOS’ signal isn’t strong enough.
E) That SOS’s signal isn’t strong enough. -> this is correct, right?
Holy shit I am spiraling deeper and deeper into this, how am I even more confused now than when I first started?
Indeed it does.
Still want an anime based off of this that has them going all through time fucking up shit and making you pay attention to every detail. With art direction from Toriyoma himself.
CT is the penultimate turn based RPG. There, I said it
The Legacy of Kain series of games had godlike story and cut scenes (except for that one game in the series that took place in the future and you controlled Kain, it really sucked) and there was a lot of time travel and changes of events.
