I rember telling my friend about how zepplin is whack because two of the four can’t play their sruff live, and page is the biggest hack.

Dude told me their mistakes and changes make everylive performance special. Now that I think about it, I should have asked what does that make dragonforce then? Improve gods?

Even in their studio stuff, page isn’t a good solo player. Stiff and sloppy. Drummer and bassist where the best part of that band, I’m fact the drummer was a god imo.

Part of what makes Page so great is his feel and how it contrasts with Bonham & Jones’. Page plays on top of and slightly ahead of the beat, while Jones & Bonham are behind it, and when you add that together, it makes the band sound HUGE. Sure, he was a sloppy player sometimes, but it was the 70’s, they were recording to tape which was expensive, and his incredible arrangements make me give him a pass. He was doing a lot of tracking pretty quickly. It’s easy to bring up some slapdick guitar player on YouTube who plays it cleaner, yeah you can play it cleaner cuz it’s been out there, 40 fucking years. All they have to do is copy it, Page INVENTED IT.

It’s also worth noting that Zeppelin pretty much reinvented rock n roll. None of the stuff that came after them would exist the way it does without them; the 90’s was partially predicated on reinterpreting the Zeppelin vibe in a lot of ways. They’re not my favorite band, but when they get it right, they get it right.

to be honest, I’ve never really associated pages playing with their ability to sound huge. It was always the drummer who had a unique way of playing that made the band sound bigger than they where. The bassist really reinforced their huge sound.

You gotta understand though that they pretty much wrote the book on excess to that point. No band had fucked as many underage chicks, done as many drugs, and made as much money as they had to that point, so I’m sure they all thought they could do no wrong (hence Page’s sloppiness and drug habits.) They made a lot of great music, and it’s not like people don’t make mistakes playing guitar. To his credit (or people’s chagrin) Page actually DID go back and fix a lot of those mistakes for the remastered versions of the Zep albums.

I’m going to have to move out because i have this new roommate who doesn’t flush the toilet. There have been several incidents since this persons move in where I would walk in the bathroom to see a surprise shit in the toilet. It’s been pissing me off, and i’ve spoken to this person and left a sign demanding that people flush the fucking toilet. Why the hell is this so hard to do? Just earlier today, i was once again greeted with this nasty persons shit, and the gross part is that it didn’t even hit the water. The shit was stuck at the sides and it took almost 7 flushes plus a bucket of bleach to get it out. I had enough.

I’ve been looking around areas in NYC but prices are so fucking expensive, and the affordable areas are either for women only or in bad areas that are uninhabitable unless you want to get shot or mugged during the night. I went to Jersey City, and prices are more affordable but Journal Square looks shady as hell, there was a bunch of scary black people fighting each other around the corner, and JC has a high reputation of crime in comparison to NYC. Black people make moving out so hard.

Journal Square is fine. I lived there for two years before moving to NY. It looks rough but isn’t if you’re not an easy mark. I used to even walk around there at 5 a.m. or so and no one really fucked with me. It’s getting redone into luxury buildings so trust me, you’re gonna be fine out there.

I’ll even stop by on my way to visit my parents or after work and grab a drink with you at Journal Square Pub. Or we can ride the train to Hoboken and get some pretty decent drinks and food.

I sat buy the corner of Journal Square, and i saw two fat hootrat ladies fighting over something, there were a few old people trying to separate them. As i was watching one crazy quite black guy approached me and one white dude who looked like he was on crack were coming towards me… that shit bugged me a lot. All though, the area in a whole does look pretty good. It’s cleaner than the Bronx by far.

I’m still not decided yet on JC because I’m getting some referrals to a cheap place in Astoria, but from what i heard JC seems like the better choice (better room, financially practical). I’m not really familiar with the commute systems of JC such as the path train, i’m hoping it’s not a pain to commute from or too NYC late at night.

JFK Blvd is huge so you have to be specific. Let’s just focus on the part around JSQ. Overall, it has pretty decent lighting, but even in the good parts you might eat a mugging or two. Shit, one happened to my friend in broad ass daylight. But if you’re in the Bronx you should let the threat of a mugging just slide off your shoulders.

As far as the PATH is concerned, it’s legit. Not as often as the MTA, but it’s still good. I survived on it throughout college and was always fine. I take it three days a week to work and for the most part it’s okay. Sometimes it gets delays but if you’re living in JSQ you can always take a bus to NY. Much easier than trying to get to Newark.

JSQ has a lot of families, just know that. You’ll get hoodrats because there’s a community college there. It’s also the bus hub of Hudson County. You know what they say about buses and black people so yeah, gotta sort of expect that shit to happen.

I’d say the JFK leading to Greenville, it’s a bit south west of Newport, and just a few block to west side. That is the shitty part man. I normally get off work around 9pm from DTNYC so i will likely arrive at JSQ around 10+… the whole commute going back home is my main concern. I’m hoping the buses operate 24/7.

For instance, honorifics like “kun”, “sama”, “senpai”, and all that shit has no significance to the average English speaker. Neither do standard Japanese proverbs and mottos* with long winded descriptions on what those expressions mean. Japanophiles, anime fans that like to stick to the source, they love that kind of stuff, but One Piece is a big BIG fish that needs to be marketed to more than just weeaboos to be successful in the West.

Actually, that’s why I like the fan subs. All of that gets lost in translation and it shouldn’t. It’s pretty relevant. Like, just imagine if all the pop culture references in a show like Fresh Prince of Bel-Aire were taken out just because other cultures might think they’re irreverent. Media entertainment is more than just the raw story. It’s the emotional nuances, symbols and cliches that are hidden within the work that take a really good story from just good to being an emotionally fulfilling experience. You lose a lot of that when you translate purely for story’s sake and it’s a large part of why some movies, shows and books from other cultures can really struggle to receive acceptance.

Buses, at least the ones I usually take, stop at 10 p.m. You’ll have to find your specific line and find out if it runs or not. You could always get off at Pavonia/Newport and take the light rail to the West Side stop. Shouldn’t be a long walk from there.
