Yeah, but those combos are pretty damn hard to do, and by the time you usually have the meter and drive bar to do them, it’s the second or third round. Even so, they’re always a one-off. They either finish the last character (who is probably almost dead anyway), or they aren’t seen again for the rest of the match.

I get hype for ST and some Tekken games to an extent, but not as much as those three.

What I dislike most about Marvel is that it’s one of those games where, if a combo starts, you might as well just put down the stick and watch the light show while you’re waiting for the end of the combo. Even if you develop a good understanding of the game mechanics and have good strategic sense, you still can’t compete with the kid who spends days upon days learning ridiculous strings of commands that go on forever. That shit ain’t fun.
I don’t mind Yngwie Malmsteen as much as some people do, but I would never pick him over Stevie Ray Vaughan.
Love Alpha 2. It does have some fucked-up stuff lurking in the engine, but it’s like having a conversation with your uncle who smokes a lot of pot, versus having a conversation with the weird guy on the bus who smokes a lot of meth.

To outright KILL a character you usually have to burn all your HD meter and several stocks. If they are around 60% health you can do HD activate>Neo Max which costs 2 stocks instead of 3 in HD mode.

The amount of time where you don’t have control over your character in a Marvel game is really dumb. Nothing lasts as long as jumping light corner infinites that A3 has, though.
My only real beef with A2 are the really ambiguous jump-ins characters like Sakura and Gen have. Even if it looks like a crossup, it doesn’t even crossup the majority of the time.

Evo is still a fighting game fans wet dream at the end of the day, but the impression to me when I say “GD doesn’t play fighters” is not that we don’t actually play fighters period. There’s tons of shit to do that EVO GD values more than fighters at Evo.
AF: Arcades are done in SoCal sadly, many predicted this a long time back though. Local scenes are still going strong (Torrance Don/etc), but people need to come out and support. I wanted to hit up Super WNF but instead I just go to the locals out here and now that school is back I won’t have time.
