El Fuerte just isn’t as cool without his scarf bro. I don’t mind SFIV, only fighter I really just didn’t like or get into in this modern era is Blazblue.
My thing is that is comes down to how much I like the product, the DLC offered, the price of the DLC/revision. I don’t know how these people complain about the games they play like MVC3 and SFIV. I’ve never seen bitching like that on these boards since I signed up. I mean if you hated the product that damn much, why would you sell out like a bitch and buy the next one?
Same reason a baby doesnt want to go to bed at night. They may miss something. Most of the time they’re not missing anything though.
I tried to like SF4 pretty hard. I bought Vanilla. I played it and then put it down cuz i wasn’t having much fun. I saw Super and bought it cuz it looked like some of the new characters where faster, more agile and fun and after about a month i stopped playing it because it wasn’t fun. I didn’t buy Arcade Edition cuz after two shots, fuck it, it’s not fun, I’m not gonna keep buying it.
I’m gonna support the shit out of XIII tho. I’m even gonna buy the DLC characters, most of whom i have no intentions of using (Only Mr. Karate, he looks awesome fun), because even in the last two weeks just sitting in training mode and trying my damnedest to belt out combos (and failing) I’m having quite a bit of fun. The game is fast and progressiveness, it’s got awesome damage values, the characters are all fuckin fun to use, it’s BEAUTIFUL, the music is awesome, just…the games fucking awesome.
It’s a lot of fun. SNK just needs to fix the netcode into something playable, and I don’t even mean it needs to be GGPO (Would be nice), but just something to have fun casual matches in an shit would be good enough for me right now.
I dunno, it’s just fun. It’s a good fighter. It’s solid.
Fuuuuuuuuuck you, I just want to pretend that Guy doesn’t suck ass every once in a while.
(It’s kind weird to realize that *Merlin *comes back on tomorrow. Hunh.)
Haha. I knew that Oakland wouldn’t be able to get past the first week of the “new year” without someone getting fatally shot.
Predictable. [/bored Geese]
Rather sad that this is technically already an improvement from 2011 since I’m pretty sure, if I’m remembering correctly, that someone died **just **after midnight on 01/01 of 2011. Hilarious.
You’re not as others have said. I don’t have anything personal against him or Emilll, but they’re so enamored of Mexico and Asia respectively that it’s pretty much impossible to have a rational conversation with them among other factors.
DLC characters are bullshit, though. Sorry, but it’s true, especially when they’re all just (better) versions of characters already in the game in this particular case.
I’m weary and wary of DLC as it is–to this day, the only DLC I’ve **ever **bought is Jill and that’s just because I had left over $5 after buying other things–when it comes to completely optional stuff like costumes and stages, but I can at least accept completely optional stuff as mere flaunting since it doesn’t affect game-play; well, costumes apparently affect things slightly, which is potentially BS, but since pretty much everyone just whores stuff without really testing it out, that hasn’t been proven to be a huge deal.
DLC characters, however, are extremely dumb even from just a concept point. They’re basically making you pay for a part of the game that should already be included, even more so than the fact that all current games “should” have online automatically–that’s arguable, but the way that Netherrealms and others have gone about it is still distasteful.
I mean, considering that DLC characters have to a) both be good enough to be worth buying and b) have to be allowable in versus to get people to buy them in the first place, you’re essentially forcing everyone to either buy that character or get roflstomp’d by them anytime they play against them since they otherwise have no way to practice. That fact that you would **make people pay money just to get practice at a match-up is just inexcusably avaricious, especially since pretty much all DLC characters are just characters they were going to already include automatically, but didn’t push back the game’s release for since they wanted to make money in the first place and because they know people will pay for it (or, at least, think they will); I know they’re all ultimately companies that need to make money, but people really need to draw lines at companies double-dipping into their wallets at some (seemingly egregious) point.
Too bad people probably won’t.
Well, I did watch some tutorial like video on joystiq about the new KoF game and I have to say that it does look pretty good. It reminds me of CvS2. I wont get it because Im just not into fighting games enough to bother learning a new game but if I was still into them I would get it.
Like what?
I for one have quit buying DLC, fullstop.
And I refuse to buy any more games that have “first buyer rewards” re: the developer wants to double-dip into second hand sales, re: I don’t really own what I goddamned motherfucking purchased.
And I refuse to “pay to play”, after I’ve dropped $60 on a goddamned title.
And I refuse to pay for the “privilege” of my system being able to connect peer to peer to another system, when I already PAY FOR THAT CONNECTION via my internet service provider.
Clearly we are fucktarded and in the wrong.
The cock-sucking, child-fucking Game Industry would tap a virtual I.V. drip into our bank accounts if the law would allow them.
- 120 GB Xbox 360 Elite (Phat)
- 16 GB Black iPhone 3GS (jailbroken) and locked to Rogers
- Unused 16 GB Blackberry Playbook w/ leather envelope case and InvisibleShield.
I’ll buy DLC still… The rest of what you said… I agree.
So nothing. Gotcha.
Someone said it’s a curse of being a fan. See one time you really enjoyed their product, so they win you over. Wanting to recapture that joy, the fans keep buying more and more of whatever comes later. So hungry for it that they’ll take whatever form it comes in like those so hungry for a CVS3 they blindly think it’ll be like CVS2 despite modern Capcom not being the same.
Whatever happned to 4Play? That guy had the dumbest gimmick ever. He’d go AWOL the come back like once every 5 or so months in the Premo thread JUST to say “I hate you all kbye” stupid shit.
Yeah I’m surprised DG isn’t driving the KOF/SNK bandwagon himself now KOF13 is apparently the best thing ever. Wake me up when the net-code become tolerable.
I think the other reason I bought DLC for XIII was because the game was free for me. Trading in Mk9 and MvC3 paid for it.
On the other hand this is the only DLC I have and will buy this gen. I also think character DLC is bs and have gone on lengths about it before. What companies should do us give us the option. Altus did that with Billy and Saiki. You could pay to unlock them or take 15 minutes and play the game to unlock them that way.
Wish I was home right now, playing KOF…
Luckily FS won’t have character DLC and Sega is cramming all kinds of goodies in the actual game THEN releasing DLC, like items and what not.
Jerk!
I have him on Facebook, but yeah I can’t remember the last time I’ve seen him post on $RK.
they sold out because all their music became lame ass shit they tried to get on the radio. It wasn’t as bad as Korn writing a song called ADIDAS and wearing custom ADIDAS gear, but yeah, they sold the fuck out. At least the 2nd album had some good tracks on it. After White Pony, all they did was shit in my ears.
Fat chino ate skinny chino, and now attempts to write songs as if he hadn’t eaten the talented member of the band.
and FYI I’ve been seeing Deftones since before they were even released Adrenaline on a major label. I remember seeing them open for fucking WHITE Zombie back in the really early 90’s.
Well, if you look at it from a different perspective the game cost you 120 dollars. Given that you paid the 60 bucks for each of those games that is.
I have never played a KoF game. I remember being a kid and reading EGM or Gamepro and seeing the KoF reviews, and wanting to try it out. Now I see the newer games, and I just don’t care enough to learn another new fighter.
(As long as we’re talking about KOFXIII, I have to ask: Does anyone else find Mai’s stance distracting for non-sexual reasons? She really needs to wear a damn bra, especially since she’s going to have back problems as it is.)
Also, for the record, if Femto’s–weird that I finally know where that name comes from now after all these years; thanks, TVTropes–potshot was directed at the fact that I said I’m wary of Drive Combos because I don’t like Custom Combos, then I’ll just say that I’m already aware of the differences between the two and that Drive Combos seem to be far more restricted/“reasonable”. It still doesn’t mean I’m any more ultimately comfortable with the system or that I don’t think that system ultimately defeats itself when it comes to customization.
Subbing (U)MvC3 and MvC2 here is pretty much proof of this, regardless of one’s feelings on either game.
It’s pretty much a sad fact of humanity that disappointment is inevitable, especially when it comes to sequels. People are never satisfied as it is, but sequels have it even worse, really. Sequels have the additional problems of having to balance between borrowing too heavily from the old formula and being called “cop-outs” because they didn’t add “enough” improvements and going too far in a different direction and creating a “broken base” because they changed “too much”; this applies for all sequels, I’d argue, and not just games.
So it’s less a curse of being a fan and more a curse of being human, though I’m sure the fanaticism that “fan” comes from doesn’t exactly help the matter.
Don’t be surprised when you wake up from cryo-stasis in the far future then.
Similarly, don’t be surprised if you don’t wake up at all.
I’m Mexican so I feel almost obligated to get and play the new kof
Edit: speaking of kof, dont know If people have seen it, but valentine’s neutral stance in skullgirls is in homage to Mai.
