Not sure if Crash Bandicoot counts, but that was a pretty fun platformer for a little bit. Guilty pleasure of mine was Jumping Flash on psx. Although, Vectorman 1 & 2, my God did those deliver.

I wanna note that GC fits snugly in the ‘metroid’ classification that cyntalan brought up after rabbit’s initial post of mario(‘standard’)/smb(‘fast/difficult’)/castlevania(i wanna say ‘action’) so it didn’t really need to be brought up but again game is godlike.
it has the ninja gaiden black style of wallrun where you run up, then slide down. i want to add a “billboard” wall run where you can run along things that are in the background to cover wide horizontal gaps.
naaa, that was @angelpalm. I find it funny he’s like ‘i want explosions in the game’ and we laugh, and then they announce they’re adding explosions and shit to the game.
Big fan of those games too. They’re one of those games where I can’t progress to the next level until I 100% the one I’m on. Controls are loli tight, just feels good to fly through the level as fast as you can.
As far as 3d plats go, I’d say Mario has the formula perfected. It’s designed so that any 5yo can jump from moving platform to moving platform, but a more experienced gamer can take advantage of all the controls to long jump, back flip, wall jump and spin attack over the whole damned puzzle. It’s as challenging as you want it to be.

@Rabbit2k7 looks cool. I really like the idea of the wall run on surfaces in the back ground. Have you played Cloudbuilt? It does some of the parkour stuff I think you’re looking for but in 3D. Can you hold up infinitely on a wall or do you end up losing momentum?
(I don’t really have any additional opinions on the current platforming discussion given people already hit all of the (few) great platforming games that I already knew about.)
Oh, actually, I guess that’s technically not quite true since it just occurred to me that no one mentioned Dynamite Headdy or Vectorman or any good SEGA platformer really that wasn’t the obvious Sonic 3 & Knuckles godliness or Sonic 2’s lesser divinity.
And even though we’re “supposed” to be limited to 3D games, I have to say as someone who still has not gotten around to playing Super Metroid unfortunately, I enjoyed Metroid Prime way more than I thought I would after I got used to the first-person view.

Well money alone doesn’t make one an overall fit parent. Sure they can provide but can they nurture and teach a child and instill values that will make them productive members of society? That plays a factor too. Also working class folks would still be able to reproduce. Can’t have a world full of white collar folks who don’t want to do any dirty work. Someone has to get their hands dirty. As long as they can show that they’ll provide for the child and can be fit parents. And of course said child will have opportunities to move up from working class just like we do now.

So one thing I’ve noticed about great platformer. Is that air mobility has an increased movement speed over ground movement. That always gives a game a better flow of movement. Doesn’t have to be a large amount but always felt a little faster while airborne or after a jump makes the gameplay itself feel great.

I guess its also not that much of a stretch of a story to not believe either. Ive encountered my fair share of ridiculous stories and moments in life. None that crazy though. lol
