Man this weed shit is getting too complex. So not only do I have to figure out how effective an azeotrope solution would be and how negatively it would impact my product. I have to research packing and figure out how it works, so that I can essentially engineer it to do the opposite.
So as I run the liquid butane during column extraction, a lot of it evaporates and starts flowing back up. This causes the chamber to flood and it actually reduces the flow of my liquid and it actually creates dry spots where the fluid doesn’t form a film as it flows, reducing my overall yeilds. So I have to design and engineer packing to reverse the time the fluid stays in contact with the fluid to minimize the pressure increase throught the system. It’s especially important when the fluid flows through the activated charcoal section of the column as the porosity in that region is essentially .9+.
And I also have to find a way to lower the overall pressure of the system and lower the temperature of the column because the long residence times, means more gas is in contact with water and is dissolving the with water, putting elevated water content in the product.
