There’s really no easy way around this hate speech thing… If you’re gonna use it, just be prepared for whatever may come to you. On the flip side, be prepared for whatever may come to you if you decide to do something about it as well. There are consequences to your actions, be they legal or moral, and you knew that before choosing to say the thing you said or do the thing you did. The law and other rules cannot protect you from everything because of how wishy-washy things can be.

In a perfect world, no one would be hateful and we’d all get along and hold hands singing by a bonfire. This isn’t a perfect world, though. It’s fucked up.

Saying a slur and directing said slur to someone are different. If I said it in a paper or just in talking with friends, it’s protected right in dat constitution no matter if you are made uncomfortable by it or not. You have rights, too, and I suggest you exercise them. Write an article, bring attention to it, or gasp hold a debate with said offender and try to show him why it is not acceptable. Campuses used to be this way but with the way kids are coddled these days they play hard and fast with legalese to implement rules that may not hold up in court if ever brought there.

From what I understand about the poop swastika, it was made to intimidate the hall residence which, if I understand it, are mainly black. That wouldn’t even be protected under the First Amendment since it was a deliberate act of aggression so I don’t know why you’re using that example.

I swear, if I didn’t know any better (and I don’t), I’d say you were doing this on purpose. It’s like trying to have a conversation with a Boggle grid sometimes.

You tried to equate signing up to a university to singing away your rights. And when I mock that statement, you come up and practically confirm it by bringing up the poop example I already brought up, and saying it wouldn’t be protected speech, which is precisely why I used it, as an example of an action that would more than likely fall under that code of conduct you previously tried to claim was a free-speech violation.

I am fully aware that saying a racial slur and directing it are two different things. I’m questioning if you are fully aware of that. This response you’re giving me is just about the opposite of what you said and closer to what I’m saying. I mentioned there are ways to express yourself that are “proper”, and you throw out a list of those ways. And then you repeat the idea of intimidation that I already brought up as a reason that it wouldn’t be proper.

So yeah, stop copying me, or I’ll protest.

There’s no reason to log in anymore… They really fucked up with that long ass content drought, but they did need a vacation. I’ll finally start playing again now that 3.1 is now, but I’m not sure if I’m going to continue to make efforts to grow the FC with so many people falling off the radar.

Yea I’m not worried about it honestly. I’m fine with it staying small and being a way to easily keep in touch and some of the other benefits, but otherwise don’t care about it growing in size or anything.
