I wrote a lengthy bit about that phenomenon in the rap thread. Basically, by the time you hit your 20s, and especially your 30s, the motivation to discover new music tends to fade. After all, you have 20-30 years of established listening history, so it just becomes that much easier to listen to that stuff than go through the process of discovering new music, especially with the state of modern radio, MTV, etc. Throw in the fact that, as people age, they are far less likely to go to parties, attend random concerts and local shows, or ride around with the friend who just got the new ___ CD, which takes a lot more effort than listening to the stuff you already know you like.
Because in the other sections, no one would even notice.
There’s also the trouble that when you’re a teenager, your brain is simply wired differently. I don’t have info about the research on hand, but the theory is that when you’re that age, music produces feelings in you that you will never feel when you’re no longer a teenager. Listening to the music as an adult that you listened to as a teenager will evoke positive memories of those feelings, which gives you an obvious incentive to stick to that music.

Not a single bot has hit the Skullgirls section, but I’m still helping. I’m banning all these bots directly through their profiles, then reporting the posts for Pryde to delete. You could help too, if you wanted. At least give me some time to go get some lun-- looks at the time dinner.
