The McKenzie Brothers would like a word with you!!!

Why is this a discussion about the relative quality and merits of these movies or shows? That’s got nothing to do with it, he’s making prints of them. It’s an issue of which prints LOOK BETTER, not which movie was ultimately better.

It’s a picture, you want it to be iconic and recognizable. And some of these pictures are better than others.

For example…The Thing. It’s not very clear what the print’s about…even if you’ve seen the movie. Why doesn’t it have the upside down head crab thing? That seemed more iconic to me.

It’s got nothing to do with Scott Pilgrim (the movie or the comic?) being better than Akira (the manga or the movie?) - people just prefer his Scott Pilgrim PRINT over his Akira PRINT. Some properties translate better into this medium than others, it’s got nothing to do with the quality of the original property, which exists in a completely different medium all together.

What, are people stupid for choosing to play Marvel vs. Capcom instead of Godfather: The Game because The Godfather was better than Wolverine Origins?

Get the fuck outta here.

Generalizations generally make people look like a dick.

For example: which opinion seems less intellectually threatening?

A: Akira sucks.

B: I liked Akira when I was a kid, but not so much anymore.

Avoiding generalizations is one of the basics of being able to effectively communicate your opinion.

If I were more inclined, I’d make an Oatmeal-style poster for this. I could run with this theme for days, as it’s one of my major pet peeves.

smh…i don’t know you.

This reminds me of the time whatsisname was arguing that soap operas are the same quality as any other show because it meets the same generalized story requirements.

The situations are alike in that for me to form a counterargument would be redundant.

I thought black people loved De Niro/Pacino gangster movies. I mean…guys like Ghostface and Raekwon are super black and that’s all they can rap about!

Now he is praising a gay dude whose name he doesn’t even know.

I am more black than Rock at this point, give me his spot.

I refuse to watch Princess Mononoke nowadays just so I can keep my memories of it intact.

Can you manage a photo blog of women with giant cottage cheese asses, plus sundry external hard drives filled with pithy gifs?

I can do either/or.

I drive in multiple lanes, nigguh!

I think most of the hiyazaki movies hold up pretty well

We’re not in the movie thread. Therefore, no expression of bad taste is too unbelievable to be real.

Here’s an interesting topic for discussion:

Yes, or No?

I personally say “hell yes!”

I also would like to know why they don’t have pumpkin pie-flavored oreos.

Candy Corn is fucking gross man. imo

Movie opinions are obviously subjective. However, a general consensus can be reached regarding the quality of a film based on a set number of details. For example, cinematography or story telling. In the case of satire, a key component is the quality and depth of the satirical elements. More specifically, a film that is a satire of a genre of films or specific film can be judged pretty clearly on it’s jabs at the original material as well as it’s understanding of that material. In that sense, YF is clearly a better satire than Spaceballs. Is it funnier? That’s for the individual to decide, but anyone with a decent understanding of cinema and it’s history, specifically paying attention to film genres and tropes, can see that Mel Brooks took more time and care in lampooning the classic horror movies of golden age Hollywood than he did in lampooning the Star Wars series (as well as jabs at other scifi films). Ultimately, if you like one over the other, that is your choice. However, when looking at the importance of a film and it’s place in the history of films as a whole as well as looking specifically at the genre of satire, YF comes out on top.

Shaun does as well, though I’ll admit this is partly influenced by my knowledge of Edgar Wright (creator of SotD) and his love of the art of cinema. He has a deep love and understanding of cinema and cinematic tropes. His knowledge of movies as a film maker may only be trumped by Quentin Tarantino’s knowledge of film, though this is debatable.

Not chocolate, so no. Vanilla Oreo cookies can go suck a dick.

I didn’t know people actually ate candy corn, I thought it was just something to throw away once you were done raiding houses for candy

by the gods no, for all things sacred nothing should be candy corn flavored. Not even candy corn.

They should make Rolo flavored Oreos.

I’m talking about the Manga.

The movie has beautiful animation.

I didn’t grow up with the Muppets. Also, didn’t really shit on them. Just said that print was lame and that there were better ones.

I always wonder why someone needs to explain to someone else why they dont like something? Just so they can argue about it? Fuck, if I like something and some other dude doesnt…I dont give a fuck. I respect that, and dont need you to explain yourself.
