Bitching on this site is healthy, if it means the end of SFIV’s ‘only child’ treatment.
ST was the peak of the series in a lot of ways. Going from ST to a drastically different system (and roster for casuals) was bound to cause a lot of bitching. I think it would’ve had better reception if it wasn’t branded as a numbered SF, or wasn’t SF-related at all.
sir, you can’t see his pupils accurately enough to asses the situation he is assessing. we do know he is looking below the knee though… how do you know that’s not me?
also, Nasty Manx needs come in here to tell us what his favorite part of a foot is again (i remember he likes a high arch but i don’t remember if he had a favorite part), and if V Hudge is acceptable.
also dude on the left has brass nipples. that guy is also me.
also LOL at that dude in the behind Brass Nippynips. that guy is maxx. also that chick behind White Maxx is wearing a tiara and a pageant sash. why. also that chick on the right side of the picture is Michelle Rhee. also everybody in that picture is looking to their right except for the guy behind Michelle Rhee. what the fuck is that guy looking at.
EDIT:
also look at LI Joe doing the Superman pose in that video. swag.
That’s not true. I always said if it was for a discussion and the OP put more thought into it then “look at this, discuss” I allow it. And I have. Sadly, people don’t put the effort often.
Ugh. Why hasn’t this strep throat completely gone away yet? It’s waking me up more than I already wake up.
has been up since 2:00 A.M.
Anyway, behold a quotation-storm. You all have white shadow to blame.
I’ll keep Our Valued Customers in mind.
As for Oglaf, I already read that. I think being a prude makes the sex comedy even funnier for me, but yeah, it’s usually profoundly NSFW. Not always, though.
I’ll keep it mind.
Yeah, Thanos’s infinite sucks. It’s still pretty easy to do, though, which I believe was the point along with “an infinite doesn’t necessarily make a shitty character good or more dangerous in most situations”. Granted, X-23 looks a hell of a lot better than MvC2 Thanos, but things still remain to be seen and like I said, I doubt she’ll keep that.
(It also helps that Thanos, unlike Laura, doesn’t need an outside mechanic to help him achieve his infinite. He just needs the person to be tall enough to be hit by his b+HK.)
Also, I don’t see why you were expecting me to link to an infinite from MvC2. What would that solve? An infinite and of itself doesn’t necessarily make a character good. I mean, doesn’t Roll have an infinite on Sentinel like most of other characters do? She wouldn’t exactly improve even if she could get in–though that’s partially because so many better characters can do that same thing.
Since we’re talking about infinites, even finding them stupid, I’d much rather get killed by a quick infinite than by a slow infinite if we’re taking things into account like possible fucks up (which are usually quite minimized by skill anyway).
We agree here, though I still think you’re being far too hasty about your doomsaying.
News to me. I hardly ever went to Smashboards even before Metaknight was shown to be able to rape everyone.
I never thought I’d say this, but let’s please not get into such wildly subjective thing as connotations, at least without having prefaced that we were even raising that issue because you are well aware that a great many things have differing connotations to each person.
That said, I see where you’re coming from now, but “faux-innovation” still reeks of snobbery. Just say it’s an invention or mechanic you don’t like. I mean, Twitter is innovation. That doesn’t prevent me from thinking it’s a POS.
…That’s seriously the core of your argument? That they’re both overtly good from the start…?
…Okay…
I at least thought you were going to BS that Snake’s UP+B was akin to Sentinel’s fly or something, but I’m just too disbelieving of the weakness of this statement to try to refute it any further (not that I feel I have to). I mean, just…seriously?
I’m curious, what exactly is the fairly logical set of guidelines for the versus games? The only “violation” that I can even begin to imagine that’s not steadfastly part of the mechanics themselves is that whole special button thing, which, yeah, is kind of unnecessary, but it’s not like that button being another normal like MvC2 would probably change things too much.
(By the way, I’m not being rhetorical when I ask that above question because I’m genuinely curious since you keep bringing this up.)
Because you’re passing it off as fact. I mean, I know you’re probably not trying to, which is why this is making me roll my eyes so hard since I begrudgingly have acknowledged over the years that you’re better than this, but it really does come off as you being forcefully obstinate when you say things like trying to patch the game is like trying to patch a leaky Hoover Dam. Similarly, there’s a clear difference between saying that “I think the damage is too high” and “the damage is too high” or that “I think pushblock might be overdone” and “pushblock is overdone”, especially like a week after the final product has dropped. I was kind of hoping you’d have seen this by now, but for some reason this particular point has been whooshing over your head as of late.
Besides, regardless of how I feel about things, it’s not like I could stop you guys from talking about it if I wanted to; I’m asking you guys not to state things as facts when they’re not (one way or the other, whether it’s positive or negative) and to may be cut down on bitching incessantly about a damn game.
Well, at least I know you’re big enough to do this if it comes to.
And just when you were almost succeeding to somewhat endearing me to you, you just had to go and play the “I’m just like you” card.
Fuck off and don’t flatter yourself.
For all of my cynicism, I’d like to think that the things are I complain about are actually, you know, important to that of a game that I can turn off and just choose not to play. You honestly think I would be nearly this biter if I could turn off and permanently ignore or solve most of the things in this world that I see as problems? Hmph. You don’t know me at all.
I never accused you as such. As I said earlier, as much as you’re complaining about it (rightly or otherwise), it was good to hear you’re at least having fun with X-23.
Manually. Lots of time. Boring, masochistic person. Type semi-fast.
It’s really not that tedious after a while, at least if I’m only replying to one person in a semi-long manner. I’ve typed like literally hundreds of post longer than most of the ones I’ve typed in most of the lounges.
People never learn from history. We’ve been over this and we’ll go over it again.
Unfortunately.
Basically.
I thought “only child” had positive connotations. SFIV’s been getting complained about since its inception despite it being the first fighting game that Capcom had pumped out in years.
Then again, given how I am about the whole “nowadays” situation, it’s probably just the Internet helping to make everyone feel self-entitled and overly bitter with its deluge of information, whether that information is accurate or not.
But that’s an entirely different issue and this post is already long enough as it is.
CVS2 only got bitched about like a 4 months after release, and then even more when RC was discovered. It seems the boards was buzzing with activity on how awesome so-and-so character is like when the game debuted.
CVS1 Nakoruru was BS, but I rarely heard any discussion over gameplay so I can’t say more…
3S wasn’t buzzing on the boards back in 2000 IIRC, and I only really remember the pyrolee vs the world flamewars about the game a few years later.
Sorry if you misappropriate playful banter with patronizing, but what I’m saying what I believe is true. All I’m doing is making observations and posting my opinion on a forum. We can use the logic of me “turning off the game” in the same vein as you not reading my post on the matter, but it doesn’t make sense that a game which is saturating every aspect of the boards can’t be expounded upon just because I have dissenting views on its development. Even if my bold exclamations sound like I’m passing it off as fact simply because I omit “I think” after every statement, I make no amends because I don’t see anything to the contrary.
As for “logical guidelines”- tech rolling, classic launchers (not that big of deal since they made Special have other features now), and damage scaling (hit stun decay could’ve collaborated well with this IMO).
he did do a writeup. and kaz did one for BBWs. what would have been great would be white shadow talking about tits, but he chose to talk shit about me and then cry to SRKev about how i wouldn’t have liked what he wrote for some reason.
that is why i don’t talk to white shadow anymore.
Kzoh has brass Sprewells which you can see through his dashiki.
LI Joe looks like he’s my height. he is my favorite high level player.
I looked at Epi’s post, then looked at his AV and literally said to myself…“What?”
It’s just that Marvel hype, I’m sure it’ll die down in a week once people start getting bored of the game. It’s like how SFIV was, a lot of hype and fun at the beginning, but that hype and fun starts to wear off once you realize how shitty the game really is in comparison to others. I’m still enjoying MvC3 regardless.
