Fuck Netflix, our department at my school just got done with a MASSIVE project, uploading 1900 movies and 2700 TV episodes to our password-protected video streaming service for our students, so the library doesn’t have to loan out DVDs anymore. The students just go up and stream the shit.

Nah, through our login portal. Students, Faculty, and Staff go to the home page to log in with your school credentials, you have a library area that you can reserve books with - you go there and look for a movie and just click “online access”. Asks you for your credentials again, you check off a disclaimer, watch the flick. Doesn’t matter where you’re at.
I’m sure you already know this, but I can’t say it enough. Squats. Learn it, live it, love it, and most importantly…DO IT. I’ve been doing that for only about three weeks and I’ve ditched the gut already. Next paycheck I’m gonna add on weights to the mix. I’ll become the iron pervert before the next year. Hide your women…Not that it will matter…

Yeah. It also helps that we have an awesome director that knows the A-Z about fair use, copyright, and creative commons licenses to have had this ball rolling, and a provost who is nearly as knowledgeable and very pro-technology. We (The Info Resources Department) is the only staff-based department on campus to not lose any funding. We have awesome leadership. 
For example: I came here, and I’m like, "Oh, I’m not familiar with Apple products that much"
I’m typing this from a MacBook they gave me, and I got an iPad as well. Go figure! It’s awesome.

some behind the scenes stuff they do to every student, that’s kinda way invasion of privacy and even deciding of futures. Which schools they can get into, is like arbitrarily decided by someone with the power to veto and change however they like and never have to tell anybody why.
Or one joker can’t just loan out the one DVD the school has for film class that meeting, so everyone gets a free day to mess around, slack off! Crazy people. Film class was the best class.

Teachers get tenure after 2 years “just for breathing” and its very hard to fire people unless they do sexual harassment or other criminal acts.
I had teachers do both to my classmates in HSchool. Shit was rough. Filing police reports and having substitute temps a whole year, missing out on that subject completely, keeping us all behind. I think I went in once for a teacher who grabbed me and called me a slave as an example. You don’t really prepare yourself for that one. Found a few good teachers along the way though.
