unfly is a state you get when you are hit with an attack that allows you to return to a standing position before touching the groun. as long as you dont normal jump, you get a certain amount of unfly attacks (7 to 8 iirc), where you can attack or block after deactivating fly (normally, after deactivating fly the game considers you in normal jump state and you cant block or attack). So sanford is doing shit like launch, sj. lk fast fly lk hp deactivate fly lk fast fly lk etc etc
it’s mostly useful for stomp pressure and turning a fly lk into a fast fly with commando. fly lk unfly lk fast fly lk (call commando here) hp (commando hits) rocket punch…OOOH!
