Tekken is actually the most popular fighting game in the world.

A number of people here stopped playing after Tag 1 because they didn’t like the drastic change to the series that 4 brought. I personally think it’s one of the best because poking and picking your moments to go on the offensive became more important. Tag 1 was amazing, but at high level, that game was nothing but run away. BDC all day and punish whiffs with twin pistons/ewgf/dark upper, etc. Tekken 5 introduced the crush system, which fixed a few things, but broke some in the process. It nerfed the overly strong d+1 (it was like 2p in VF, except you couldn’t do shit about it), which then made it a tool you had to think before throwing out, but, it made hop kicks retarded. They’re like wake up srks that scrubs like to do, except you can do it any time, you lose 50% to 65% if you get hit by it, and you’re not getting punished hard for it if it’s blocked–most hop kicks on block are only jab punishable (about 8% of your health). Backdashes and steps were also too good. DR nerfed juggle damage a bit and got rid of the infinites and broken shit, but the game became like a boring Tag. Run away all day because backdashes and steps were ridiculously good. BDC poke, BDC poke, BDC launcher, etc. Despite it being boring at higher levels, the game was still very good. It’s the best Tekken we’ve had since Tag, imo. 6BR nerfed step and backdash, nerfed juggle damage further, buffed poke damage, slowed the game down, and made every character’s model bigger and moved them closer to the screen/foreground. The result? The game moved like molasses and a few pokes could kill you faster than combos/juggling. And that’s not even adding rage mode to the equation. Christ. The game was extremely boring and stupid as a result.

Tag 2 is the same as 6BR, except they sped up the game a very little bit, lowered max health value (two characters instead of one. Makes sense so we don’t go to time ups all the time like week 1 Skullgirls), and added tag mechanics. Lowered health + buffed poke damage + rage that can happen as early as when your character loses 30% health (your partner gets rage when your active character loses a certain percentage of health. Percentage depends on relationship between the characters) = a lot of situations where the game plays like the video I posted. Shit’s dumb as fuck. It shortens the gap between high level players and scrubs because it’s giving scrubs more tools, and raising their chances, to scrub a higher level player out. MvC3 syndrome.

Compared to the fighters out today, Tag 2 is still going to be one of the best/solid/balanced in the market, so people will like it, but if you play VF and enjoy it, there’s no reason to subject yourself to the ridiculous shit. If Tag 2 is your first Tekken [in a while], find a mentor quickly. Tekken is much harder to learn than VF, because the mechanics are not intuitive, and you will get destroyed by high level players VERY badly.

I’m part of a group that organizes tournaments in the DMV area, of course I’ll direct you to streams, Tekken or not. My personal stream will not have any of that noise, though. I’ve taken a liking to combo video making, so you may see me post some vids if I can borrow the game from someone, but I’m not playing the game to compete.

Quote this too :china:

(Wait, is SCV actually “good”? I ask considering the entire Soul Calibur series seems like it’s been horrible for a while.)

Haha. I find it hilarious that outside of putting white women on a pedestal thing, RockB manages to be even “whiter” than I am.

Part of me feels like I should be disappointed by this, but I’m not sure in what way…

Thanks for the try, but I can’t use that or else I would have considering I already knew of the word. I should have said so, but I’m limiting myself to European words/name’s for the most part and I already did spears.

The problem is more than Y barely has many useful adjectives (that I know of) as it is and the most of those tend not to apply well to inanimate objects if they can apply at all.

(So you’re proud to say that you wet humped people without penetrating them then? [/smartass])

Meh. I’m not really judgmental about humping…so long as clothes aren’t still on and it’s not being done on the dance floor under the thinly-veiled guise of the latest “dance” craze.

“Freaking” and the like is so disgusting.

Funny. That was one of the few infinites in MvC2 I could pull off. Pretty much just that and Thanos’ derp Bubble infinite.

Then again, the extent of my MvC2 skills began and ended at Spiral/Cable/Sent.

Damned, you sound like an 80 year old infant, you know that?

Yeah, even as I wrote that I remembered it being really easy, but I probably just figured it wasn’t worth learning. Pulling it off in a real match + how little damage it did. I could possibly DHC into something to save my ass with it, but I really used him as a throwaway character anyway.

I actually didn’t learn very many infinites at all besides Iron Man’s. Couldn’t triangle jump for shit. I did learn a bit with Sent, but I was rarely able to use it in an actual match.

Spiral was my second main after Iceman. Spiral Sent Doom. Dunno why, I just liked Doom better than Cable, even with cheap ass jump back + fierce + AHVB. Dem rocks, biatch!

Nothing but no homo love for that. Lack of Spiral in 3 still makes me sad.

(And…we’re late. Again.)

How is it possible to waste water for like 15 minutes without actually cleaning a damn thing?

Yes, I am aware. I really should be far less emotional than I am.

God damnit. I’m starting to think up new combos for MVC2 now… I’m going to bed, you low lifes.

Yeah… and my Sentinel was shit. It was my assist, nothing more. If I ever ended up with Sent alone, I was pretty much fucked.

Was pretty decent with Spiral, though.

rofl @ -8

aww come on buddy…atl is all that bad. It does take a while to get used to tho. Yea, id never pay for sex either…that said, i mean, its not like youre not getting a discount lol. Also having sex with strangers is part of the thrill of lust. Its like a safer version of russian roulette.

Couldn’t agree more, fuck that shit. It makes my blood boil.

Oooh finally getting hyper grav loops down. All I need to do know is learn to wall carry into hyper grav and my Magneto will actually be playable. Small victories are the best victories.

Awful lot of talk for virgins.

Blackheart/Cable/Psylocke was my team, still is and BH’s infinite isn’t hard since there’s multiple ways of actually pulling it off. the more important point is, is it worth it in an high level situation? Not really but it can be used as a desperation tactic with a high risk, low reward.

A good lock down Cable with BH’s AAA to throw people off and setup Mag/Storm/Sent/Fly players for unblockables from snapbacks and AHVB x3 kills is what makes that combination fierce. too bad this info is 12 years too late for anyone in the FGC to even take seriously.

People who have “tried” to play with BH then dubbed him “useless in tourney play” are the guys that could never grasp that BH is a battery character and should be used only as that and for his air spam to stop aggressive players with MSP teams. Instead, they burn tons of meter for no damn reason other than showing they have not tried harder to learn the character properly:

(This will be my last reply for the next few hours at least, so you guys get a merciful reprieve.)

Hmmm…I actually don’t feel bad about laughing at this kid hit the floor really hard from three stories up. Do I get to use the excuse that he was apparently okay? [/rhetorical]

Oh, “-8” is still a good deal better than most of the south outside, maybe, New Orleans in Louisana and a few other, mostly historically relevant places.

Otherwise, I literally have no reason to go anywhere near the south unless I’m visiting relatives in Texas, which I’ve only ever done once. So…yeah. I know Atlanta is one of better places in the south overall (and definitely in Georgia), but that’s really not “good enough” for me, especially as someone who has never liked to travel.

A discount implies that not only would I be willing to be pay any amount for it in the first place, but also that I would take it for free if it was offered as such. Given that I wouldn’t take it for free, you can see the problem of offering me a “discount”. Hence why I said I “appreciate” the sentiment but (hell) no thanks.

For you, yes, apparently so.

For me, I literally don’t think I’ve ever lusted after a stranger.

Does not compute! Does not computer! Does not comp–.

SYSTEM ERROR!

shuts down

SCV was amazing, until the back step nerf patch. They nerfed back step to get rid of a glitch (QS4G) similar to the 2G glitch in SC2. In SC, all steps are unsafe in the sense that you have a few frames of vulnerability after stepping in any direction before you could block. A skilled player could hit you between your step and your active block frames if they were quick enough/anticipated correctly. 2G in SC2 and QS4G (Quick Step 4G) in SC5 negated these vulnerability frames and made instant blocking out of step (in SC2 you could 2G to negate recovery frames of actual moves) possible, which turned the games into an extreme turtlefest. Over the years, the development team tried to curb this penchance for turtling by nerfing step a bit, adding armor breaks, increased vulnerability frames between stepping and blocking, and making it so getting hit while stepping would count as a counter hit, etc… and they finally struck the perfect balance with 5… until QS4G was discovered. During step, if you blocked with 4G instead of just G, you negated the vulnerability frames of the step. The glitch had something to do with how the game treated 4 (back) inputs.

They solved the problem by increasing vulnerability frames of back dash to 20 frames. Think about it. After tapping back just to create a little space between yourself and your opponent, you are vulnerable for a third of a second before you can block. That’s fucking madness. Especially in a game with characters who have swords as long as they are tall and spacing is your best, sometimes only, bet against them.

20 frames before you can block? That’s goddamn any attack in a 3D MK game territory.

we stay hard

Fanatiq blown up so hard in that video. “I don’t think a guy named Lauren should be saying shit like that. His name is Lauren, he likes playing the piano and he has a one button dash.”

I played storm cable cyke. I always prefer to play rather defensively and punish you for making any mistakes. Never really went for the RTSD game.

I used to play storm doom psy before I really delved deep into that game.

I’m also a decent gundam pilot. But never really liked the robot all that much.
