SRK Lounge. Now greener than ever!

I saw this guy on Stan Lee’s “Superhumans”, and yeah his technique, reaction and control of the blade is certainly incredible.

Those Japanese girls were practically creaming themselves at the mere sight of him. lol @ some of them crying at the end.

Nobody’s watched VH1 in the past 10 years, and when they did, it wasn’t for music.

I don’t know what it is they call ‘retro’ these days, but it’s not the 1980s I lived in. If more people had a genuine interest in being culturally literate, they’d know that for themselves, instead of playing the Chinese whisper game with Lady Gaga or Black Eyed Peas or whoever’s propagating faux-80s style. I’m not mad or anything, but yeah it’s not really the 80s. But you’re right that a lot teen/early 20s adults don’t know a goddamn thing. You just gotta hope they pop enough Adderall to grow a brain in college.

EDIT: Goddamn this text editor

Should I feel really bad that I do not know who this Heavy D guy is? I was playing classical music on the violin and the piano during the 90s so the only artists I knew were Shostakovich and Sibelius, and in the 80s I was too busy studying math to pay attention. I googled his music but didn’t recognize any of it.

Here is a list of famous dead black rappers I did shed tears over:

  • Tupac (not Biggie tho. west coast knowm sayin? BIGGIE SMALLZ AND JUNIOR MAFIA SOME MARK ASS BITCHES. WE KEEP ON COMIN WHILE WE RUNNIN FOR UR JEWELS)
  • Nate Dogg (BEST HOOKS EVER)
  • Jam Master J
  • Proof (only reason I know who he is is cuz I like Eminem, who understood my white teenage angst)

Yeah I left out ODB cuz I don’t like the sound of his voice.

EDIT: Ok I guess Jam Master J isn’t really a famous dead black rapper, he’s a DJ, but he’s listed as a rapper on wikipedia so that’s good enough for me

^You should give me a list of classical music to listen to.

I also have no idea who Heavy D is. I don’t follow rap at all, so they’d have to be famous for something other than their music for me to have heard about any given rapper.

for instance, I only know who Biggie Smalls is because he was in an episode of South Park. I only know who R. Kelly is because he pee’d on a girl.

Are you trying to impress ur azn gf with how classy and cultured you are? If so I know some good tunes that you can drop to impress. None of that mainstream pop like bach motzart and beethoven that everyones heard a billion times, I know the good underground shit.

Yeah asians should get a pass on knowing anything outside of what their parents make them learn. But that’s not gonna happen.

Maybe thats why Vanessa Mae was playing at Ramzan Kadyrov birthday party even though he probably had a few chinese sex slaves chained down in his dungeon that same day for usage during the after party. Or it was the 500k they paid her. Chinese make the best sellouts.

Heavy D really wasnt that famous world wide… I only recall one song he was in and Biggie saying his name in Juicy.

Fixed for accuracy.

Yeah some of the underground shit, por favor. 谢谢。 A top 10 list is all I need.

EDIT: The only thing I need to do to impress my azn gf is too stay handsome and well dressed. The classical music is for me.

All you gotta do to keep your azn gf is to stay white, and that’s about it.

(Oh, fuck. I just realized I need to look at TVTropes for something. Have to not get distracted…)

Hey, fishjie. Did you ever end up watching Coraline yet? If not, then you should see it.

Also, if you’re giving out classical music recs, spread the wealth. I need to listen to more of that and jazz.

I seriously don’t understand why you are so insistent on saying that people who have no idea who some person who wasn’t even highly visible–apparently he died as he was starting a “comeback”, meaning he wasn’t even actively doing anything for a while–were all people who had to go out of their way to avoid him or have “shallow reference pools”. Some people just don’t like that genre of music at all and only know the bare minimum of people at most due to how popular they are and how much they’re referenced outside of things that aren’t even relating to music; being “not all that into hip hop” is quite different from not being interested in it at all or actively disliking it and neither of those options necessarily needs to come from self-hating or racism or whatever.

I mean, apparently he was on that X-Factor show or something recently, which I’m sure helps your argument a bit, but still means little since not everyone watches that show or even the trash that is (reality) TV.

So some people didn’t know him? Big deal. He’s dead now and more people having known of him wouldn’t exactly have changed that. Similarly, if he’s good and you like him so much to defend his posthumous “honor” with insults, then it’s not going to make whatever music he made any worse if others remain forever ignorant to who he was or what he did.

It’s not like he was a president or something. Athena forbid that people not know every musician that you like or have differing tastes from you.

 That video would have been much better without having to listen to the shrill mating cries of “eh?!” that Japanese people apparently produce when aroused.

Same here. Same age, pretty white, and no clue who Heavy D is.

It being a huge resource hog is a huge issue when trying to use ITunes and do anything else that uses Memory. It’s fucking annoying. it also runs like a peice of shit on anything that’s not a mac. the PC version of Itunes is a fucking peice of shit. Damn thing freezes are crashes all the time and I’ve re installed it like 4 times. I hate that it’s a must for my Touch. I also run into the syncing issues Val was talking about and also it will break up my Albums at times for no fucking reason at all. I had to relable the last song on Sublimes new album because it appeared as an album all on it’s own just cuz Wiz Kalifa (Or whatever the fuck his name is) was on the song. That’s really fucking annoying and tedious. And fuck Quicktime.

I’m gonna have to check out those alternatives Val mentioned.

y’all all gay for not knowing the creator of the MadTV theme song.

dipshits.

all y’all.

You can’t convincingly call yourself computer-savvy and willingly install iTunes on a non-Mac. I almost understand dedicated transfer software… almost… but I’ll never use one or buy a player that requires one.

I use foobar2k but I don’t carry around a media player because I already have a soundtrack to my life.

I’ve never claimed to be such…

oh snap you know what Damned I should have watched Coraline with my aZn gf for halloween. instead we watched zombieland instead.

am i trolling as good as rcaido yet? can’t wait to someday upgrade to aZn wife like rcaido what a hero

Not you, I just mean anybody who’s okay with iTunes.

(Hmmm…I wonder if I can stay awake on an 11-hour ride if went somewhere, especially considering how easily I fall in moving vehicles if I’m tired.)

I dislike iTunes because it’s part of Apple’s egregiously shady shit on top of taking up all that memory and using slow-ass Quicktime. Do not want.

You have failed me. Commit whatever the Chinese equivalent of seppuku is. (Worshiping Mao?)

Nah. You’re actually Asian and make useful posts.

It’s like a double rainbow* of failure.

*To show what small reference pools I apparently have, I have also not seen this video. Largely because it seems stupid purely based on the premise. [/Stinkmeaner]
