Yeah, the only good memories of the old X-men show I have are the episodes with Apocalypse and Sinister…Apocalypse mainly because of the voice actor and his amazing lines for every scene he was in…everything else was forgettable garbage. I think the same guy voiced Galactus later in the short-lived Silver Surfer cartoon. It would’ve been too awesome if they actually got the same 2 folks to do those 2 villains in the new show… at the least I hope whoever has it now at least tries to sound like them.
Eh, sadly my marathon of DSP Horde mode vids are over now… I finally got to the one where he and his crew beat Wave 50. (*they did it all on Overpass… I went thru the waves at the Thrashball stadium, which is another really good map for that mode…hell yeah we set up at the concession stands area.) Gears’ Horde mode itself is superior to most other full games, imo. Yeah, I love it that much. There’s good reason that a lot of games are suddenly adding “Horde modes” lately.
My favorite moments of the old X-Men show were whenever Wolverine got royally fucked up by triflin’ shit that wouldn’t even cause him to blink in the comics.
You’re right in that the animation doesnt hold up and as adults we can never enjoy those shows on the same level as when we were kids.
But its really the measure how little they have declined that still makes it a good show.
Most of these cartoons are cheaply animated, so I cant judge them on that. For me its more of a mixture of the plot/character moments, voice acting/music.
I think X-men TAS, Batman TAS, Season 3 of G1 Transformers,Beast Wars, Robotech, SonicSATAM, Disney Afternoon could revisit, whereas the follwing shows I cant:

I don’t know, I would put X-men and Thundercats on the can’t watch list. I loved those shows as a kid, but they don’t hold up at all.
Thanks for the info on Morph, I actually didn’t know that part, I didn’t read much Uncanny back in the day, I started on the reboot series X-men which started off with a 2 issue Magneto story and then an Omega Red story that involved Matsuo Tsurayaba and the Hand (and also some interesting flashback stuff with Maverick, Creed and Logan on their Omega Red mission). I always (obviously incorrectly) thought Morph was a made up ill-fated prop character.
Oh come on, the old X-Men cartoon is completely watchable even today if for nothing other than the horrible over the top voice acting.
I don’t know if it’s possible to be like pseudo-racist against cajuns and people from the south, but goddamn, did they try. Wolverine was also awesome - “YOU EGG SUCKIN’ PIECE OF GUTTERTRASH!” Huh?
(G4 has an X-Men cartoon? Hunh. Maybe I’ll actually watch that channel for once.)
I don’t think you have to be an adult to have realized how shoddy the animation on the X-Men Fox cartoon was. I’m pretty sure I realized how crappy it and the Spider-man cartoon, which probably reused more shots than a lot of old anime, were as a kid, especially with stuff like Batman: The Animated Series on the same time.
Also, we’re talking about how crappy that cartoon is the only thing gets posted is that hilarious “Incredible Power” scene? (No, I don’t care that entire channel seems to dedicated to all the WTF in that cartoon.)

I have to admit, though, that I was oddly disappointed upon finding that MvC3 Storm didn’t speak like the cartoon one, even though (or perhaps especially because) I really like her voice in MvC3. The closest she gets is Elemental Rage, though.
The DC animated stuff still holds up really well. The Marvel stuff, not so much.
You have to give X-Men and Spider-Man credit, though. The production values were shit, but they did try to step things with bigger story arcs and smarter themes, which you didn’t really see in cartoons before that. It wasn’t their fault that Batman came along and raised the bar even higher.
She got to have her ridiculous wedding day princess fantasy. Why stick around after that?
