General rule is not to click on anything within an unsolicited email unless you’re told that you’re going to receive something. This goes for attachments (ESPECIALLY attachments. Even if it’s just a .jpg. DON’T open it), and links, even it appears to go to someplace safe. Just ask them on Facebook (GASP!) if they sent you an email. :tup:
@maxx A lot of facebook users have clicked the wrong links and gotten their accounts phished. Their phished accounts use their registered email to email other people on the victim’s friend list to spread the victim count. Phished accounts also post status updates and stuff. It’s usually a post like “WOW, check this out! So amazing!! insert arpe-phish link here”
Just delete the emails and tell your friends to change their facebook and email passwords.
My combo vid is finally done and in post-processing. I’ve gotta say, this is the prettiest and cleanest combo vid I’ve made. i know the general rules, but literally nothing has come of the spam. my facebook hasnt been hacked nor my twitter. i just keep getting spam mail, i dunno if its cause i have a mac or what. i dont click any links in the mail, i havent opened them except the very first one. but nothing has happened to my comp…just weird emails.

That’s how it works. You aren’t the one that’s going to be hacked, or else you’d be seeing those same emails going through your outbox in stead of the other way around. They’re sending out mail from someone you know in their name somehow. They could be phishing email and friend’s lists for new email accounts to compromise. What kind of mail is it? Advertisements for viagra? 
This one is not a big deal. More likely some email bot that uses address to search your facebook page (maybe got it through someone else’s facebook app usage), grab some random friend name, and send email using that in the title to try to get folks to click the links.
The email is always from some random email bot type address. I’ve gotten a few months ago but haven’t seen them after.
