SRK Lounge: I heard rumors that RockB was Scatman John

Which stream?

I mean the guy has already proven himself an awful writer on the front page more than once.

Here. He keeps saying that Gootecks and Mike Ross will have to apply to the Jay Leno show if they lose. He’s said it a bajillion times now for how short I’ve watched this stream. Someone needs to staple his fucking eyebrows to his collar bone.

Redrapper has always been wack his raps are garbage too.I just hate this guy .

why do you hate me

WHAAAAAT…

(several lucky breaks, including some divine intervention from the lag gods and random and unfair moments, but still…)

GGPO FTW, ggs everybody.

Where the hell is GGPO2? I’ve been waiting so long!

Lol Long Island Joe in a West coast Stream. Is he a traveling beyblader?

I felt the first 50 minutes of that movie were awesome. JDM housing protesters was great. I don’t remember much after that, save for trying to stay awake.

It’s that time again…

[details=Spoiler]Man, I just finished re-watching Disney’s Beauty and the Beast…

Still so outrageously good.

Re-watching it a 2nd time. Behind the scenes/uncompleted version which still has pencil lines/concept work/“laundry work” animation in it… this movie and other Disney classics is why I want(ed) to be an animator. Seeing a lot of the segments now that I know the amount of skill and work it takes to create quality animation… holy fuck. The entire “Be Our Guest” scene, and Belle’s intro scene as she walks out of her house into town and begins singing “Little Town” (0:00 to 0:38) blows my mind as an animation student. These guys were seriously untouchable back then. It’s comparing the farmer with the shotgun in Dragon Ball Z (average animation student) to SSJ3 Goku (average Disney animator). Jesus.

The art is so beautiful, yo… Like, gorgeous. From the skies in the old provincial French village to the architecture of the enchanted castle… My god. So vivid and rich.

Seeing all the art stuff in the last Lounge and this thread plus re-watching this movie makes me want to start up drawing again.

It’s too bad Disney isn’t really the same anymore… it would have been the dream to work for them. The dream.

Listening to the quality voice work is part of why I also want(ed) to do voice acting work and why I want to do acting. Belle, Gaston, Beast, Lumiere, Lefou, Mrs. Potts, Monsieur D’Arque (RIP, Tony Jay. Gone too soon; can’t say that enough), etc. Such legendary, quality voice work in this movie. Their craft takes a surprising amount of work to be actually good at. Major respect to all the legends that did voice work for this and other classics. It’s such a pleasure just listening to the voice work if you know what to look (hear) for.

And of course, 'dat music. I’m not even talking about the flawless, timeless vocal pieces. I’m talking about the score. Alan Menken and Howard Ashman (RIP. You were also gone too soon. As the ending credits stated, you gave a mermaid her voice and a beast his soul. Godlike is an understatement) have always produced amazing work. Hearing the piece at the beginning when the narrator starts speaking is so haunting in SUCH a good way. Feels good, man. I also saw the bonus song added to the special edition, the “Human Again” segment. Not quite as good as the other songs, but still decent. End theme is as godlike as I remember it. '80s and '90s Disney end theme versions of the theme songs were always on point. So soulful. Just remembered back in the day I used to have a cassette player just to play recorded cassettes of my favorite Disney songs. “Tale as Old as Time” was on both Side A and B two times. Ah, memories…

Lots of jokes I caught that I didn’t catch with the last viewing. Shit made me laugh so hard. I also got a chuckle out of the entire bar scene. You’ll never see an animated Disney movie in this age with a scene with people getting merry and drinking beer in a bar. Or mentioning killing or the intention of killing using the word “kill.” Or someone getting stabbed, etc. People in the regulation/censorship industry have to have noticed that the majority of the middle-aged population in the US (or the world) grew up on this stuff and we turned out just fine. They need to ease up on companies. The only thing that I can understand is the chance of another religion-themed movie (Hunchback of Notre Dame) not happening ever again. People will catch feelings no matter how the movie is portrayed, and it’ll cause problems. Only way that kind of movie will fly in this day and age is if people became more tolerant, respectful, and accepting of all beliefs/cultures, etc. Fat chance of that happening, though, especially with situations like people protesting and making a scene against the United States Pledge of Allegiance just because the word “God” is in it…

Oh, and Gaston is mad swole. I’d like to get to that point where I can snap a belt tied around my neck by flexing my neck muscles. swoon
No homo. Gotta see if I can snap something less tough with my biceps first then work my way from there…

I need to buy the BluRay of this, and all the others. I think so far, Disney has only re-released Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King on BluRay. I need to start building that collection now. I can’t go back to VHS and DVDs after watching stuff in BluRay.

Ah, and Million, you may want to rewatch this for the featherduster woman in human form at the ending. Lumiere was gettin’ it in.

I missed The Damned. He’s the only one that would have read and seriously responded to this post… sigh

What is the deal with ugly people who have no/bad personality?

You’d figure that it would be one or the other. You know, to compensate.

naaa, Id be mighty salty if I wasn’t so damn sexually appealing. I kinda understand their rage at life.

So my parents came back from Jamaica today. No ganja (although they was watching deals go down out in the open a lot lol…I think they fucking smoked it too, those hypocrite liars), but i got me a rasta hat with dreadlocks (how much blacker does this make me?), a fuckton of rum, and they stopped off in Cuba on the way home to bring me back a box of Montecristo’s

Ugly people have a hard time socially because its something they’ve had to deal with their whole life. Their concept of the world is framed around that.

I’ve known a lot of ugly people that were nice, though.

It’s also because they’re ugly and no one pretty will hang out with them.

It’s what you accept when you’re born with the face of an orange.

Stay free, ugly.

ok comic geeks so i have a question. I am currently writing an idea out…a couple chapters to see if i like the feel and if i can snag an artists interest. My question is in the first chapter i have a flashback sequence, but i have 2 possible situations during it. the main character is kinda explaining how she got into the shit she is now…

  1. in the flashback, theirs a situation that could potentially call for another flashback to explain sumtin about her mother. so it’d be a flashback with in a flashback.

or

  1. they just talk about her mom without the second flashback.

personally i wanna lean towards 1, would it be stupid to do a double flashback?

If I was James Cameron, there’s no way I could resist trying to get Ice Cube to make an appearance of some sort in Titanic. Probably right as the ship struck the big ice cube.

Maxx: Flashbacks simply serve the purpose of telling us what we need to know without going into too much detail. If you need another flashback to explain what’s going on in your flashback, perhaps you’re using the wrong tool to tell your story.

I would use the story surrounding her mother as an opportunity to create a mystery for the readers. If that’s possible, it can be a win win situation because it can provide something for you to fall back on in case you hit a flat point later on, but if you really need to close it, you can just explain it away like it was nothing and the story continues, but doesn’t suffer for it. Just be sure not to play it up too big, unless its something that warrants a big build-up.

do a quad flashback

Nah, quad isn’t deep enough.

You know we can do deeper.

I wouldn’t do a double flashback except maybe as a deliberate stylistic gag. Tarantino does a great string of flashbacks nested within other flashbacks in Inglourious Basterds, but he’s Tarantino and style gags are his bread and butter.

I also wouldn’t have characters just talk about stuff, unless they have something relevant to do physically while the talking is going on.

F-Zero might be a better game but it can’t be compared to Wipeout (other than being a futuristic racer). What makes Wipeout unique is the boat-like anti-gravity physics. Scoring the best time isn’t just about finding the best racing line, like every other racer. It’s really about finding elevated spots in the track to exploit the roll boost, which could be anywhere and anything, and varies depending on speed class. That level of intimate track knowledge adds a ton of replay value.

This tutorial kind of illustrates what it takes to master the game

2048 isn’t as good as HD. And even though HD and 2048 are the best of the series gameplay-wise, the visuals/design/music peaked on PlayStation 1.
