I’ve come to the conclusion that nobody on SRK likes fighting games. They just like to argue which ones are worse than others.
Nah, I love fighting games. As long as I’m having fun with people I’ll play whatever. Last two weeks I’ve been fucking around with SFxT because pretty much our entire playgroup enjoys how much of an insane trainwreck the game is. Its like if you could continually play a game where the point was to cause really bad car accidents; it is just that hard to look away from it.
I’m so close to buying it because the game gives me huge belly laughs. On the plus side I got to play CvS2 again yesterday and that was GLORIOUS!

I’m curious to know what you dislike. I may have missed it if you’ve posted it here recently, but I’m having a good time with it. Nothing really jumps out as “bad” other than maybe some gems, but I have yet to experiment with them much. I hear a lot of arguments that are just “fuck this game it sucks” and nobody ever really says why they think that. Let’s discuss.

The people who don’t like fighting games are those that either fondly remember being a teenager and that just fucks their brains up, or they think they’re top tier champs who have opinions that matter.
Sure I bitch about some of the mechanics here and there, and sure I suck pretty bad, but I still win games, have fun, and enjoy them. I have zero problem playing SFIV or MvC3 or SFxT at any point in time. If some other people wanna cry because they think SFIII or CvS or whatever is the ultimate fighter created, power to ya. I’m gonna keep having fun with a game that Capcom still put effort into. Sure they made mistakes, everybody does. Make me a better game with your tears please.

I actually like playing games more than talking about them. But the best way I can describe that its a whole bunch of little things that add up to make the games feel like shit. The walk speeds, the hitboxes that make less sense than the old hitboxes, jumps are all kinda wonky, the stages on the new games are [__________________________________________________________] long. I anti-aired more things in CvS2 yesterday than I did in SFxT and I did it with normals; that’s bloody sad.
It feels squishy. If that makes any sense at all. So yeah I know what you mean. I felt the exact same way about SFIV when it came out, but I got used to the jumps and ended up liking it a lot. I tend to do a lot of dashing in fighters, something that Guilty Gear has branded into my DNA, so I never really noticed the walk speeds. I need to play CvS2 again. It has been at least 5 years.

That’s because most of Srk is playing fighting games, they are playing whatever capcom titles have been released lately.
