That clip is killin’ me. The way she looks around like “ooh lawd, I hope nobody see me…” as she “makes water” (good ol’ southern speak)…that one little aspect of the clip is comedy gold to me. On another note, the sound is 100% on point…women pissing is a much, much louder sound than that of men for some reason…it indeed sounds like someone using a garden hose.
Stern posed an interesting “Terrible Choices…” question on a recent episode of his show I was listening to earlier… would you rather awaken from a stroke (or perhaps a coma) gay or paralyzed on one side? The story was sparked by an apparent news story where a dude who was supposedly straight (yeah right) had a stroke, and was suddenly flaming gay afterwards. (I’m not inclined to believe that shit…he was probably a closet-case before. I don’t really believe a person can magically change their sexual preference…at least not genuinely.) Personally, I’d rather be paralyzed on 1 side…you could probably make enough progress with rehabilitation and muscle therapy and all that to eventually regain most of your previous functionality on that damaged side of the body.

Currently rereading Alan Moore’s run on Marvelman. Like his Swamp Thing run, Marvelman is just as good as Watchmen, and in some ways better.
His Marvelman is fucking awesome. I picked it up thinking, god damn this dude looks fucking lame. What kind of costume is this shit? Then…well I’ll put it in spoilers because you’re reading it now.

That comic is nuts. Everyone should read it.
It makes good on the promise of superhero deconstructionism by following the characters’ activities to their logical extreme. That alone makes it worth reading: seeing what happens when the superhero gets serious about fixing human civilization.

And the entire premise of the run-an out-of-shape adult becomes the young and perfect superhero, in an inversion of the Captain Marvel premise–is so damn rich, it colors everything about the story.
Squadron Supreme is good in that way as well, though it certainly is a different take. Read it if you haven’t.

damn, that brief Adam Corolla rant on this “everyone’s a winner!”-raised generation (in the first post of the recent OWS thread, which I’m sure will be filled with delicious arguing and intolerant condescension for at least several pages) was perfectly on point, imo… the entitlement mentality is something about human nature that is incredibly pathetic and disgusting to me… it’s such a high-caliber shitty, douchebag character trait. That shit has infected everything, including the mentality of the average gamer as well… any kind of competitive situation in a game…people feel like they are entitled to prevail in every possible scenario that can happen…when they lose, the inclination is to blame the game itself and how certain things are “cheap” and should be “fixed”… once again I’ll use the average whiner from Gears 3 earlier when the game just came out… let’s say dude foolishly charges into a close-quarters area where someone could be hiding around a corner with the sawed-off shotgun…Mr. Sawed-Off laughs to himself as he realizes some fresh meat just showed up…and BAM blasts the other guy to pieces before he even knew someone else was in there. Instead of thinking “damnnnnn…dude got the drop on me” or “ahhhhh I probably should’ve paid more attention or thrown a grenade in there first…”, nah, his first impulse is to complain that this weapon should be patched or even completely removed from the game…as if to say “well, he got the drop on me and shot first before I knew what’s up… BUT I SHOULD STILL HAVE WON THAT!” Nah, you shouldn’t really win that situation. I’m fairly sure that in a real life shootout situation, Person A gets the drop on Person B…yeah, it’s a safe bet that Person B is going to die in the next 1 or 2 seconds.
…but that’s just a gaming example, and less serious than stuff going on in the real world, of course…that mentality affects so many other things in life, and the results are pitiful. It would be nice to see where our old friends Self-Reliance, Ambition, and Pride went. They appear to be missing at the moment.
You know, I was part of a group that was going to plan protests and stuff about the war on drugs here in El Paso. Went to 4 meetings before I said fuck it. Interesting tidbits:
- There was a chick that was somehow gonna help by writing a cause for a local magazine that nobody reads.
- There was an “artist” that was part of it because he wanted to do an installation. We couldn’t get him to draw a flyer because it wasn’t his thing, he was more about installations.
- It was suggested we build a website from scratch.
- They spent one minute arguing for 30 fucking minutes over what color our t-shirts, if any, should be.
- When I came up with a simple exercize in civil disobedience, one of the girls there was visibly freaked out by it and said we couldn’t do it because “they’ll take it down, we have to get permission first.”
That fucking university environment neutered me so damn hard.
