Then you have a goodass math teacher. I maintained an ass GPA from highschool into college (2.2ish) , and I got a free ride (2.5k/semester with courses adding up to about 1.6k). My other poor friend had like a 3.5 GPA and he got 5k a semester. But that was all back in the day, and apparently the grant/scholarship programs were gutted when the economy tanked so who knows!

When you hit college, you aren’t running into people that are forced to be together (public schools), or people that are looking for something to get by (most unskilled labor), but for people looking for higher education.
The friends you pick up from college are most likely going to be the most important friends you’ll ever have. They’ll be the people that give you hook-ups, insight, suggestions, tips whatever for your professional future. For most jobs, the hard part isn’t going to be doing the work-- the hard part is getting hired in the first place, and your friends/acquaintances would make that part that much easier. -
The paper might not even be useful for the field that you are looking into going into, which for you is apparently game development. If you want the skills to actually be able to program games then you’ll probably earn those, but right now the game industry is shifting to smaller devices/lower dev costs and so it might be difficult getting a job when you come out if you wanted to work for a major studio. Also, keep an open mind in school.

I was always an A & B student until my sophomore year. Goddam things got bad lol.
Saturday and Sunday I start my Dishwashing shifts (not Clint Eastwood). Going to be the first time in my life I work 8 hours with no break. I’m looking forward to it. Dish is such a great job because you’re distanced from all the restaurant’s problems. The cook fucked up a bunch of orders and the guests have to wait? Servers are arguing over who put their order in first? I don’t care, I’m just in this room washing plates. Love it
