Hunh. Looking at the short-list y gave, outside of Tom & Jerry, all those other instances are from Looney Toons. Hmm…maybe that explains part of the reason that I never really liked Looney Toons despite having no problems with older media in general and despite really liking Tiny Toons.
…Then again, cartoons might ironically be the sole exception to my tendency to like “old-timey” stuff in general since, even outside of the horribly racist ones, I don’t like Scooby Doo either for the most part, outside of some of the guest episodes with Don Knotts or Phyllis Diller. [/nerd]

Tom and Jerry was purely a technical exercise. I think they were given two standing orders: make 'em fight and make it look good. It’s a shame that a cartoon with such a high level of technical polish had to be so soulless.
Unlike Looney Tunes, which was actually clever, had good gags, characters with personalities, etc. Looney Tunes is legitimately funny, and some of the comedy was downright innovative. Tom and Jerry was much as it got characterized by The Simpsons: just mindless violence.
Eh, I wouldn’t hate on it that hard. Jerry was just frequently a douche and the instigator. Hated the little fucker. They had some good creativity at times but it was far from as consistent as Looney Tunes. Some of the more memorable toons in my memory banks are T&J though, such as:

Actually there ARE TOD’s but only a few people are doing them, and they don’t post on SRK. It’s the fastest game out there in terms of round time and how short matches go because of the damage.
Comeback Mechanics are not there though but I’ve never had a problem with them other than being stupid by design and slowing games down. X-Factor I don’t mind since it kills the character quick, so I don’t have to sit there looking at baby-mode combos all day. I’ll play low health characters in UMvC3 just so if I do get beat, I don’t have to sit there watching it, which means I can go back to playing VF.
In short I prefer games that are Short and Cheap, like ST and VF.
