If a game has practical combos that kill characters outright, what’s the incentive to do resets?

i never understood why MSP players have to feel themselves so much and go for resets. If I’m playing MSP im going for hypergrav tempest all the time, I want you dead, I dont want to eat a block plus commando

I agree with this 100%, while appreciating the quality of FS, and acknowledging the nonsense of UMVC3.

I do not mind kicking back, and watching 3 other dudes battle it out in UMVC3, while waiting for my next loss, at all.

I also do not mind losing at it - it’s still fun.

I will say this, though:

As much as people (somewhat rightly) diss SF4, it toes the line on both fronts.

Quite fucking serious. That’s just how much I think the game sucks. Not even going to lie. If I did play it, I’ll run some mix of: Doom/Zero/Team Trench coat. Yo, not my fault they made Vergil like that. There’s nothing I respect about MVC3 aside from that it looks better than SFIV.

There’s only a handful of characters I like and not because they’re in MVC3. I’m a DMC fan and I always liked Zero, Doom I’ve respected for a long time, and I like Weskers style of teleports, gunplay, and hand to hand combat.

Actually, now that you mention it, were there any other cat-and-mouse shows? Despite the amount of cartoon cats, nothing else comes to mind outside of Itchy and Scratchy, which was/is obviously a show with a show on The Simpsons that goes out of its way to show how actually “evil”/violent & assholish Jerry’s counterpart is. Outside of that, Garfield is too much of a fat-ass to chase anything even if there were mice and Eek, Felix and Bonkers were all concerned with other issues.

Eh, cat-and-mouse is more a description of the genre. Tom & Jerry, Sylvester & Tweety/Speedy Gonzales, Elmer/Yosemite Sam & Bugs, Wile E Coyote & Road Runner… all the same format, really.

Sonicabid I believe. I just ran a set against YeahDood, then I played randoms after our set. I hate Hulk players online, or anyone who just mashes --> or <-- H all day. If my strings aren’t perfect, or I try to block for any set amount of time, I get option select thrown. Also after teching a ground throw, both characters shouldn’t be right in throw range again.

I think UMvC3 is the best modern Capcom FG out right now. It’s fun as hell, fast, and has a lot of bullshit to keep you on your toes. I hate TAC’s and option-select ground-throws, though. Really annoying to deal with sometimes.

Capcom put out an Online Edition of a specific game that no one plays for some reason. It’s crazy active online though, and it’s getting patched soon. I should definitely play it more.
