I was astounded at how War Machine and Hulk breathed lol. Hulk was just so full of POWER
I dont’ know why, but Ryu transforming just made people fall into his power and get beatdown. Dont’ know why, but whenever I would transform, it was free hit city.

(Note to self: If quoting Azure in the future, then quote him separately from anyone else since he refuses to truncate even really lengthy quotations.)
I’ll reply to him later, though.
Heh. The first thing I heard about when I finally dragged myself out of bed was that NYC shooting, though, the news being the news, there wasn’t really any information they had beyond barely some of the most basic answers to the category of the 5Ws and 1H.
Learning that the people injured were not from yet another (attempted) mass-shooting, but from the shoot-out with police somehow makes it worse.
First and foremost, I can’t tell whether your comment is meant to further what I’m saying or chastise considering what I said doesn’t, in my eyes, contradict anything that you’re saying here; that said, I lean towards chastisement given your third and fourth paragraph. Similarly, Internet neutral tone aside, I’ve long been aware of Superman’s “social evil” origin and have been aware even longer of Actions Comic #1’s adventurous, “boyish” nature, so why you’re explaining it to me so condescendingly is another uncertainty.
Regardless, your very argument shows that you can combine “boyish adventure” stories with stories that deal with real social issues like corrupt politicians and slum conditions. That the solutions to these problems are able to be a lot more straightforward and thus often “silly” isn’t something I’m arguing against at all. I am also not arguing for the censorship of “power fantasies” in print as you’re implying that I am; far from it really, since I’d rather people work out their power fantasies in reading or writing (however terribly) than enacting them in real life.
I’d even go so further and say that I actively encourage power fantasies dealing with social issues in comic books just because, politics aside, “justice” is pretty much a non-entity in real life anyway–justice is already “fiction”. Hence, religion. So I’m all for “power fantasies”. Just because they’re “power fantasies” doesn’t mean they’re exempt from having to be well-written or that they can’t deal with social issues that (mirror the ones) people deal with in real life.
You seem to be mistaking my overall comment that superheroes can be “serious” with calling for them to be Darker And Edgier. This rather than my just saying that you pull off an instance where Reed Richards isn’t useless in superhero comics without it just being a disconnected one-shot thing as it all too often is. Didn’t The Authority basically prove this already? (This isn’t rhetorical since I’ve still yet to read that comic.)
In that way, I can agree that there’s a mania to keep characters “grounded”…while at the same time people like Dan Didio don’t seem to know what the actually entails or, at least, how to successfully do it. However, I was never advocating for anything like that, especially if it leads to crap like One More Day or (how) Civil War (ended up being handled despite its potential), and I never intend to advocate for anything like that presently.
Assuming when you use “you” that you mean me in particular rather than “a person”, then I’ll say your own assumption is incorrect that I don’t dislike the Red Hulk because he’s “silly”; I dislike him because he’s a stupidly designed and written character. I don’t really need to go over how being “silly” and being “stupid” aren’t the same thing again.
Similarly, I never said that I couldn’t enjoy “silly” (superhero) comic books, even if you feel that’s a redundant description of them. You’re just erroneously assuming that because, like a lot of other people, I don’t find and have never found The Red Hulk (or any of his recent Hulk, Loeb-created ilk) “awesome”. For instance, I found Nextwave hilarious and I didn’t suddenly enjoy it a lot more after finding out that it’s officially “canonical”. In fact, I didn’t really care one way or the other given I stopped caring about American comic books (by the Big Two) half a decade ago for the most part and I never really cared what editors have said to begin with in most instances.
MVC had the coolest version of Ryu EVER.
That is a terrible card, if they win I’m moving to Canada or something. Two rich ass white dudes that have no fucking clue how middle America works. I still find it funny Romney picked the only guy more disliked than him as his running mate.
okay. I see what you are saying.
I just dont understand why some people care so much about ‘canon’
(Geez, San Jose seems like it has Charles Bronson’s in town with how many people are getting dropped this month in the past two weeks. What is this? Death Wish VI: His Panic?)
Why the hell am I getting so many wrong calls lately? And why are they all seemingly from women (who sound like they’re related)?
Is it really that difficult to make sure you dial the correct number?
Dumb broads. [/Epidemic]
I’ve been vaguely paying attention to this, but only since it’s been on the local news. I give a “fuck” in the sense that I wanted Apple to lose, but that was pretty much entirely out of spite and honestly I don’t really care, especially since Steve Jobs is dead; so at least even though Apple won, that asshole doesn’t get to enjoy the victory.
Also, you seem to be under the impression that the rich can’t multi-task in their rape and pillage. Nice illusion you have there.
Shrug.
Well, I’m not going to try to speak for everyone, but a lot of the caring about canon is due the aforementioned connection with a character. There can be a legitimate sense of “betrayal” if that character suddenly starts acting or doing things differently than they’ve previously been shown acting or doing, which I think a lot of the cries of “defilement” come from. Similarly, you can’t really have character development without canon, to a degree, since then every single appearance of a character is independent of each other due its episodic nature, so they either remain flat or only “develop” in a shallow way called Flanderzation.
Not that having a clear canon prevents Flanderization, especially the longer something runs. In comic books, the first example that occurs to me is how Nightcrawler often goes from being merely more religious than most of his fellow X-Men to being basically an non-ordained priest who talk about anything but religion. Similarly, it’s not that everything that doesn’t have a clear canon or that isn’t episodic will automatically suffer from Flanderization, since Calvin & Hobbes pretty much avoided that for its 10 year-run. It just becomes a lot more difficult to do.
And this isn’t counting the times when writers or readers will purposely ignore “canon” just because they feel the story is better without it. So even to many of the people who flout it the most, it doesn’t seem terribly important.
WHAT SORT OF SORCERY IS THIS?!

o_Oo_Oo_Oo_Oo_Oo_Oo_Oo_Oo_Oo_O???
My god.
With glasses on, Superman looks just like Clark Kent!
Someone let Clark know about this!
Is it the fact that his chin is 10 feet long?
yo these collapsable ads can eat TEN THOUSAND COCKS >:(
SRK has fallen into the hands of uncontrollable capitalism.
where’s sony legend when you need him?
Nowhere.
Get it?
lol @ Clark Kent’s Norwood Class 3 pattern. stop going into space so much Superman. reentry is fucking your hairline up.
So apparently there’s some porn star named Kelly divine offering sex for 400$ in buckhead (atl) I Googled her and really have no idea who would pay for this lol…
My cousin had a good idea but idk…paying for pussy like this doesn’t set well to me. He says we can tag team her…them upload it online and make some kinda profit.
Anyone know if she’s a big name or what? Bc if she is…idk lol
Sent from the next dimension using saiyantalk…
(Given the nature of people, someone would definitely pay. That doesn’t mean that particular someone actually has that amount of money though, especially when there are cheaper prostitutes [that are probably less STD-ridden].
Also, no one would pay for that video. That’s a terrible idea.)
Implicitly speaking of cocks and the unfortunate obsessions they (can) cause, I really don’t know why I clicked on that “new average size” thread. I now know entirely too much about some people, i.e. Raz0r, and it’s honestly not like the Internet needed sully my mind further.
All the more reason to go for a walk I suppose. I’ll respond to Azure when I get back. Maybe.
Shrug I’m feeling rather lazy as it is–my shoulder blade has been hurting all day–and this computer being extra-sluggish isn’t helping my lack of motivation.
Incidentally, the same cartoon actually addressed the problem with that unfunny joke with a much funnier one:

Man could you be any more transparent?
Reminds me of when it took 6 cops to take down one guy with a knife by shooting him 40 times. Somehow they missed 3 times to boot.
i just checked her out on rock’s tumblr…her body seems on point, but i’m not really into all that jiggly ass stuff.
