I just finished Batman RIP. It was ok. Better then Hush was. My copy of The Long Halloween came in the mail yesterday. Gonne start it today. I just realized it was wirten by Jeph Loeb so here’s hoping its better then Hush. Knowing it was the basis for the story in TDK fill me with hope tho.
That is more a statement about Hush though, which I don’t think was a very good story at all.
Long Halloween wasn’t too bad, but I would warn against picking up the successive stories that follow it. It’s usually money in the bank when Jeph Loeb is teamed up with Tim Sale. Superman For All Seasons was great too, and their various Marvel runs where pretty solid too. Anything with Tim Sale is worth getting into.
The greatest Batman story ever told is still Year One, so if you haven’t gotten on that yet you need to do that soon. Dark Knight Returns is okay too…I guess.

I have read Year One. It was great. I really need to get the trade. It hope its as nice as this Long Halloween one. Dark Knight Returns was really…odd. I probably need to read it again.
If you’re interested in the comics that inspired TDK, be sure to check out Batman #1 from 1940… somehow (a physical copy, even the reprints, is really expensive iirc).
