While cicadas aren’t actually dangerous (no stings or bites, if I recall), they are some of the most annoying creatures in the insect kingdom. It would be perfectly fine with me if that particular species were to go extinct. I had to fight my way through a cloud of those things just to get to the little italian place for lunch today…and the noise… it’s like billions of little “wind-up” toys all activating at once out there.
*I saw a bird fly right into the window at work the other day… heheh, that never gets old, y’know? It would be great to have a few of those moments caught on tape. I thought this little dude was a done deal…that was a hard impact, and he was laid out on the lower awning twitching and convulsing for quite awhile. Surprisingly, he eventually got up and flew away. The look on a bird’s face after this (assuming they survived) is priceless. They’re all dazed for a long time, looking around like “what the hell just happened?” Yes, yes… I am entertained by their pain. It’s funny when any creature has to learn something (like the presence of glass) the hard way.
