[SRK Guitarists and Bassists 2.0]

Why? Its very expensive but you can get almost all the features and playabilty of that guitar for $1000 cheaper. The only reason why its so expensive is because it has Vai’s Jem name on it.
If you’re serious about getting a high class Ibanez guitar then check out this website

www.ibanezrules.com

Its a website owned by a guy who sets up Ibanez guitars specifically. Hes been doing it for years now and if you buy a guitar from him and get a setup it will play like nothing you’ve ever played before. One of my friend’s friend recently bought a guitar from there and he actually let me play on it. It is amazing to say the least. The dude checks EVERYTHING you can think of and puts whatever guage of string you want and whatever tuning you want.

This is a non negotiable price. I do not price match and I do not care what others sell for. The service you will recieve is far more important than the few dollars you may save elsewhere.

Your guitar will then be plugged in and played to insure what is shipped is absolutely problem free. There are zillions of guitar dealers, I deal in instruments. This attention to detail has caused me to raise prices as I cannot compete with the Warehouse dealers on price and maintain the level of attention that is devoted to each instrument. A full Pro Setup on a new guitar takes an average of 6 hours, and no guitar is finished until it’s perfect. It is your hard earned money, spend it wisely.

I use D’Addario XL120’s for 9-42 setups and XL110’s for 10-46 setups. Feel free to send your favorite strings if you prefer something else. Request for custom tunings no problem and no charge.

I am often asked to sell a guitar without a case. No US shipper will insure a musical instrument that is not packed in a hardshell case. Warehouses can take the risk of shipping uncased and then eat any damage when it occurs. I can not, and will not ship a new guitar uncased.

You get the guitar, full setup, J custom case, and choice of tuning and string guage for $1105.00. I think thats better than buying a JEM thats been sitting in a box for months in a warehouse.
All you would need to do is buy some EVO pickups to get a more Vai sound if you want. If you can wire up a stick you can wire up some pickups lol.

:u: That was fast. It’s expensive indeed. I just wanted a somewhat “good & stylish” guitar to show off on some band appearance/gigs and even on some occasions. That white/gold feel with the design on the fret is just too good… IDK… try to enlighten me with other guitars that I may find interesting.

EDIT: Yep… I’ve tried comparing the JEM7V with the RG2550Z just a while ago. What does EDGE Z bridge really mean?. Still the White/Gold is just too good. :stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah, don’t buy a JEM just for its looks lol, especially for that price tag.

Heres some pretty guitars that are less expensive and just as good.

I use a Peterson Stroboflip, and it’s rather amazing. The temperment options work beautifully for every instrument I play (Guitar, Mandolin, Baritone Guitar, Dulcimer). I can’t say it’s a huge difference over regular tuners, but it’s still somewhat noticable. One bad thing though, is the sheer accuracy might drive you insane. When I first got it, I was trying to tune everything to exact pitch, but I then realized, the increased/decreased tension on the guitar from simply tuning a string will mess with the accuracy. What you’ll soon learn with this tuner, is that no guitar is ever in tune, and you’re really working to get a note that’s close enough, while still maintaining the temperment.

Any Ibanez users here???

I have an RG120 and the tremolo setup is killing me. I have no clue if it’s supposed to have a unique setup or a similar set up like a Floyd Rose. Any help help here would be appreciated.

Is my tremolo supposed to be leveled?? or supposed to rise when i tune it.

Simply, don’t use the trem. Ever. The lower model Ibanez guitars have trems made of aluminum foil lol.

The trem is supposed to be level with the guitar. If you tune it to whatever tuning you’re using and its going up then you need to open the back of the guitar and you will see 3 springs attached to 2 screws. Slowly screw the 2 screws in until you see the bridge start going down into the body. Do a 1/8 turn and then check the tuning, repeat. Don’t do it too quickly because you could snap the strings. Keep checking the tuning and re-tuning into the bridge is leveled with the body and its at the tuning you want.

What kind of guitar do you have? How bad is the intonation?

lol i’ll try this later on and post up if I have other questions. Thx!!!

A good video that helped me a few years back when I got my Prestige RG1570 and my PGM30WH.

Ibanez>*

His guitar doesn’t have a floating trem, its a fender type trem, the SAT10, BUT, same principles!

Cool video, I had to learn the hard way with locking trems. I would + rep if I could lol.

Oh I didn’t even look up what trem the RG120, I assumed it had a Lo-trs or something like that on it. Same principles none the less!

Yeah, its weird that that RG has a SAT on it. Most Ibanez guitars with the SAT bridge are on the SA models.

But yes, pre 2006 the lower model RGs had lo-trs on them, but now they’re replaced by the EDGE III.

Thx helpful vid

Yeah it seams that I only had 2 spring and my strings where a thick gauge so I had to add 2 more springs and then mess with the trem. Seams to be ok now. Im at drop C and my trem is completely leveled.

really?? my rg is an 07 model i believe.

It’s a high end, MIM strat (oxymoronic?). It’s the deluxe player’s strat. The intonation isn’t bad. I just think it could be better. To be honest, my guitar is great. I’m just looking for little things to make it better.

@ MagnetGenocide

I think its cause you have a really low end model lol.
Drop C? Damn. Never went lower than standard D tuning. Now I’m in standard E tuning and won’t be moving from there for a while.
If you’re going to be playing with tunings like that and with heavier gauge strings then I recommend that you buy a guitar with a stable bridge instead of a trem type or floyd if you get a new guitar.

I wouldn’t suggest a Buzz Feiten system for that. I’m assuming its a 9.5" radius on your neck. If it plays great already, it’s not worth the mod. Buzz Feitins, imo, are for vintage radius and scale axes that have serious intonation problems.

The website and some salesmen love to bill it as a miracle. It’s not. I’ve seen it completely ruin an American Jazzmaster.

Also, spend the money on better pups perhaps?

Just letting y’all know, in case anybody wants a ridiculously inexpensive 8 string:

Agile Intrepid Pro 8 preorders

Agile Intrepid Dual Standard preorders

how is that possible? $89 for a 6 string? is Rondo a good brand? $625 for an 8 string seems too good to be true…

Rondo’s stuff is definitely good, and worthy of prices 2-4 times what they charge a lot of times. The quality control scales with the price scale, naturally, but it’s definitely good stuff. Don’t believe me, look up Agile/Douglas/SX guitars and Brice/Douglas/SX basses at:

harmony-central.com

just to name a few off the top of my head. I personally own(ed :frowning: Fucking money crunch) a Douglas SI-61L guitar that I got for $99 and a Douglas WPB-955 5-string bass that I got for $220. The guitar had a couple of minor issues (a couple of bubbles in the finish), but after a good setup, it was good to go. The bass was pretty great right out of the box, and after a setup, it played even better. Sounds great through a good system, too. Everybody that ever saw me with that bass, having no idea how much it cost me, thought a) it looked killer, and b) it sounded great. And a lot of these people had boutique and/or classic vintage name instruments. (I was pleased to learn that people aren’t all headstock whores.)

All their instruments are made from pretty much the best materials (for reference, a lot of more expensive Squiers and Epiphones use agathis and poplar rather than alder, etc. Given that, most minor issues are easy to resolve, and Rondo has a great return policy, as well. I eagerly look forward to buying from them again…got my eye on oen of those $89 ash strats (those were $129 last time I looked…but I’m not complaining) as a replacement for the one I lost to the pawnshop.

haha yeah I’ve been looking for a new guitar but Im in the middle of buying
all my NEW tattoo supplies. So i would have to wait til next year or so.
Any guitar recommendations??
