The 2nd half of November till the first half of January is hell for anyone who works retail. Its VERY hard to get time off during this period.
Beyond that hurdle, if I could afford to go reasonably, I would. Chances are though, that getting time off during this period simply will not be possible.

This sounds like a great idea… late.January I think would be a good time…Dec has Nec so it might conflict with some people.
A Winter party event sounds great, but if it`s only 1 day people wont travel to it. It would have to be a full 3 day large scale evo event for people to travel to it.
Also the winter event could be old skool games only, like alpha 2, super turbo, hyper fighting, vf3, tekken tag, ect ect.
When i went to sbo, the japs invited us all to a party/ evo style event, it was a big room like evo2k4 with projector screen and games and free beer, it was loads of fun, but it wasn`t exactly a party, but it was a good way to mix and meet loads of different people. I think a social event added on to the end of evo is a much better idea.

yes, most people would rather spend time with family/friends rather than fighting games, another time would be better.
It’s a most def attendance for me. Maybe us staff can finally do what we always joked about… EVO Staff vs whoever in whatever game. lol.
Being in WI, a midwest version of this would also be much more accessible.
