SRK Competitive Pokemon Battling Thread: Logoghoul and White Shadow Win! Bye Gen 6!

Well, I figured out a good Tyranitar set

252 HP 252 Attack 4 Sp.Def Adamant
Hold Item: Assault Vest
Stone Edge
Crunch
Pursuit
Earthquake

Due to self induced Sandstorm, and the Assault Vest Item that boosts sp.def, Tyranitar effectively has doubled his already impressive defenses, and cannot be 2OHKO’d by anything except for a super effective focus blast.

Beats every special attacker in the current metagame hands down, including any ghost Pokemon, Latias and Latios.

For reference, a critical hit hydro pump from Starmie only does 50% damage. Basically he’s Chansey 2.0 because he can fight back.

EVs may need tweaking for Aegislashes that have invested some EVs in speed.

Tournament Update:

Two hours after the tournament started Phantom and Arkkai decided to be A+ Students and fight early. Phantom came out on top.

Also Mega Venusaur is the best Mega imo, he’s an excellent lead because not only does he lack weaknesses but he can put something to sleep after tanking a hit.

252 HP 252 Sp. Attack 4 Def Modest Nature
Hidden Power Fire
Sleep Powder
Sludge Bomb
Giga Drain

His functionality ranges from water Pokemon and Rotom-W to fairy killer, to Aegislash Killer. Also directly counters most steel pokemon due to his defenses and hidden power fire. Loses to Talonflame unless he puts him to sleep.

Sleep Powder goes through King’s Shield and Aegislash immediately goes to sword mode if he attacks even while still asleep.

This is news to me, good to know.

Pretty sure major status go through Kings Shield.
I burn him and poof. Threat gone.

EDIT: @Ninjanuity
When do you want to battle. I got my team ready.
I’m free after 4pm Central any day.

Count me in!

RnG at Pokemon Showdown is definitely off, how does a nigga miss a move with 75 percent accuracy miss 4 times in a row lol

Nah son, this shit happens in game too. That kinda shit is the reason why I stopped playing competitively.

King’s Shield only protects you from attacking moves as far as I know.

That happened to a guy I was facing a while back. He went for Sleep Powder and misses 5 times with his Venusaur while I set up Quiver Dances, forgetting he already put one of my other Pokes to sleep. Sleep Powder failed once it finally hit, I was at +6, I killed the Venusaur, and he forfeit.

My team is almost complete, but I’ll have it done in a couple days, I contact before then.

I know status moves bypass King’s Shield, I didn’t know that Aegislash could go into attack mode while Sleeping. So if someone thinks they can attack with a wakeup (lol) Shadowsneak and stays asleep on that turn while their offensive and defensive stats have switched, you can KO them easily on that turn.

That’s why you don’t use Focus Miss unless you’re desperate.

When you down to play @Shintarru

Dometopia, I’ve added your FC. I’m free all day tomorrow, whenever you wanna play our match, just PM here or send a battle invite in-game, as I’ll probably be on my 3DS all day anyway, lol.

@DaFeetLee Ill add you but I should be on most of the day tomorrow.

@Shintarru Alright, I already added you. My ingame name is Patrick. I’ll be on most of the day tomorrow too.

Remember how I said I was sure Nintendo thought of something for hacked Pre 6th Gem mons and some were hoping they would screw up on that? You may want to start kissing those mons goodbye.

Serebii:

Nothing is hackproof…regardless I am waiting to see how this all pans out.

The “Nothing is hackproof” idea doesn’t matter if it takes so long to hack the thing becomes obsolete.

I concur. If you have to got to the lengths that the engineer who built the Shiny Catching Device has to, not many people are going to go that far, and for the few that do I’m doubt they’re going to flood Wonder Trade with millions of hackmons for us to enjoy.

I honestly am not too concerned. I’ve been an avid breeder ever since G/S/C, and GameFreak has made breeding infinitely easier now-- I can breed nearly flawless mons in a fraction of the time it used to take me to get just three flawless IVs and totally flawless only takes a little bit more time.

I know there are some folks who obsess over having perfect mons and that’s fine, but they really overstate how much of an influence IVs have over your final stats outside of HP and Speed*(the only really important ones, imo)*
