SRK Car Thread (Show it off or ask questions)

I had the same predicament in 2011 when I was looking to buy a Honda. Back then issues eere woth the premature brake fade and some transmission issues that Honda refused to address. One would think five years later they would get theor act tofether.

So I took it to the dealer, and apperantly the clutch is making noise because the face of the clutch has cuts into the plate. They said that it “happens” when people drop the clutch aggressively and clutch brake often. now I dont’ do any of that, and the dude also said that maybe the previous owner had done this. Because it’s been over three years, 2012 model, and because the clutch has signs of wear and tear, Honda won’t cover the maintnance and the qouted me 1050$ to replace the clutch.

GTFO

what kind of pos clutch are they using that its gonna have groves carved out on the clutch plate with only 25K miles. Now I have to read my “extended” warranty clause, and ask the dealer I bought it from what they mean by “certified” pre owned and what inspections they do. Because we haven’t driven the car aggressivly ever. I’ve only driven the car for about 500 miles, and its street drving. The rest was my dad and sister who don’t drive aggressively, so there should be no reason why the clutch plate has that damage. Especially when the dealer dude told me that it was perhaps the previous owner who may have done that.

Hahahahahaha!! Im starting to wonder if Honda told all the dealers to make shit up when ever a known issue is in their recent models.

Maybe you can buy a clutch from SPEC? It’s gonna cost you $$$ but at least you should get a quality product.

Ninja edit: Apparently, the Civic’s clutches are relatively a lot cheaper.

Well for me, I’m willing to spend the money for a decent one, so I’ll probably start looking into it when I’m able to budget in again. Nothing crazy though, since it’s mostly going to be used as a daily.

based on the forums, yes they do.

That’s what probably going to happen later down the road. I heard the clutch is still usable for a long time, and my sister is going to most likely going to run it like that for a while. The longer the better too because I’m going be the one replacing it.

this is what i’m going to end up doing in the long run.

Yeah, clutch packs and springs and it should remedy the problem. Maybe just springs? I’ll probably go for a sport package, and call it good. My sister’s fiance wants my stock OEM si wheels after buying a 2016 Civic, but I told him they are rashed on the driver side, so he might just plasti dip his wheels instead as my sister dig my even blacker civic:

The 2016’s have funky tail lights style, looks like warped parenthesis LOL. But I think his wheel’s look better than mine when they weren’t dipped.

Tried to buy a CR-Z last week, they are all on no-sell/recall. Even used stock cant be sold, and I was told even if I buy private party still need to take it to Honda for them to fix the issue, which will be summer at best, and get a loaner for that time.

No thanks. I’ll keep the ones I have for now. Fuckin Honda, who’d have thought they would suck this much. Back in 2000 they made…Civic Si, Civic Type R, Integra GSR, Integra Type R, Prelude, Accord SiR, S2000, NSX. As soon as they came out with that 2001 Civic, and then the EP3 hatch that was the downturn… I’m like the ONLY thing they make today that I can stomach the looks of is the CR-Z, and that still needs a wheel/suspension to get it. AND I CANT EVEN BUY ONE. Maybe if they bring out the S660 without a recall, or their new shitty QC. Until then, fuck them. Mexican built Fits, LOL.

Evo on its way to 550 WHP.

Also from a post I made elsewhere:

I dont know about your area but for me, when I see one of these following cars, I make an assumption that if it is not a mint example driven by a 50+ year old, the driver has no license or insurance.

And I do mean these particular bodystyles

I’d like to see a survey on how true this is accross the US

It’s fast enough. Nothing like my buddie’s who got the Hellion twin turbo. I need to get some better rubber for it though. It is a manual.

I’m going to vent a bit about my experience on a job interview today at a motorcycle shop

[details=Spoiler] So I notice last week that a well known bike dealership was looking for help in a few departments on their website, being that I was sick of my current job, I thought this would be a great opportunity to try my hand again on working on stuff that is related to my passions in life. So last weekend I went to the dealer, got an app and filled it at the parking lot. I was very descriptive on what I wanted to do, which was a service tech, and mentioned that I wasn’t certified through any of the manufacturers, that I was willing to start off doing “express tech” related work and then get trained to eventually move up to doing more. Every section was descriptive, a person with a 3rd-4th grade reading comprehension skill level could understand fully on what my purpose of filling out the app was. So yesterday I get a call from the service manager and he sounded very optimistic and enthusiastic to set up an interview. I thought, “damn, looks like I’ll be giving my employer that 2 weeks notice tomorrow.” Yeah, fucking right…

This morning, I get up early, drag my ass in the shower and get prepared for this interview, going over what I needed to ask and so on. I get to the shop and meet with the manager. He sits down with me and we start talking. The next 10 minutes, no, the next 5 minutes I already could tell this fucker was wasting my time. He tells me they aren’t looking for a tech to work on their “20 thousand dollar ducatis” They are looking for a kid, that is able to work for only 10 hours a week. He goes in saying that “You don’t look like you would be a technician anyway” Great, so not only did you lead me on, but now you are disrespecting me. He then goes on saying “We need someone that can not only do oil changes, and other basic services but also tire changes too” Making it seem like I can’t physically be able to throw a fucking motorcycle wheel on a machine and change it out when in my application it specifically said that I was able to do tire changes on fucking CAR wheels. Bitch ass manager goes into side stepping mode and tries to convince me of being some gopher bitch boy and went on to assume that I was straight out of highschool, when if he actually went over my employment history, it would of made no god damn sense of his. He then goes on some bragging self righteous story about his own life and brings in a service advisor and even disrespects him saying that he too “didn’t look like a mechanic so I pulled him out to be an advisor dur dur dur” Like that’s making any fucking point. If that’s the fucking case, what about all the asians, he said he is half japanese, and went to japan on vacation before getting a job offer to work at a shop as some jack ass years ago, well dummy, what about your brothers that work at those shops? They aren’t built like fucking Brock Lesner, what do they do then? use fucking gundams to assist with their work?

He’s lucky I was not fully awake, I would of called him out and told him after 5 minutes, he was wasting my fucking time and that he needs to quit his job and go learn how to fucking read. This isn’t the first time either that I was lead to believe I had my foot in the door only to have it tickled and then cut off by some bitch ass manager that shouldn’t be in the field to begin with. Also, the area he wanted me to work in for only 10 hours a week, was fucking messy as shit. Boxes and boxes stacked everywhere, how about instead of wasting my fucking time, you go and manage these fucking boxes was what I was thinking in my head. [/details]

God damn fucking service managers, some of them should never be one.

It’s better to have found these things out during the interview.

I fucking concur on that one Tekno. I could tell by the employees that came across us, that they wanted to pee in his cup of coffee.

Maybe you can try a mom and pop shop? Those dealerships or shops that have a corporate feel to them are always full of shit.

The salt in the youtube comments is too much.

Got rid of passenger foot rests, always have done this and it cleans up the back end

I’ve been busy piddling on little stuff on my project, figured I’d share some pics. I picked up an Auto Meter 5’’ RPM tach to help better track the engine revs. Got it for a decent deal on ebay. I didn’t really care for the look mounted up on the dash, I preferred to integrate it into the dash. As I have stripped my car of it’s A/C equipment, I took out the dremel and got rid of the AC vent on the cluster trim plate and it popped in with a little massaging of the trim piece. The tach came with a shift light which I spliced some longer wire in so I could relocate it inside one of the console vents. It’s a tad bright but I can tint the bulb lens. Worked out very well and sitting in the driver seat every number is perfectly visible. I worried about the wheel blocking it but it worked out great.
