Engineer is anything BUT a generic henchmen. He’s a hired mercenary who uses his intellect and amazing building skills to craft whatever he needs. He fights with whatever he crafts…sometimes building onto his own teammates!
as for cap…yeah he’s got peak human strength and speed I will give him that but so does many superheroes. Batman does it better…in the marvel world Engineer’s equilateral would be more like Ironman. As for his weapon of choice? well…a shield does seem a bit goofy

Unfortunately even if the Engineer of Marvel would be Iron Man, Engineer is still an Engineer and NOT Iron Man.
Ya an understructible sheild that can defend against ANYTHING, especially in the Team Fortress universe, where its all just basic weapons, and it can be used like a fucking pinball frisbee of death… Is anything but goofy. A symbol of justice, defense and pain.

As for a mech heavy it’s not so much a tag team but more of using a tool. and engineer has a LOT of tools to use. The Shield may be all near indestructible…but what is capt without it? What I’m getting at is the shield is the power…Capt is just a slightly stronger man and nothing more.
Now I don’t know much about the Magic User in the DnD game.
But if it’s anything like a Magic-user from the table-top, he’s a soft-ass pussy and Polnareff is going to fuck his ass up no matter what comes at him.

Thats nice and all. But your engineer is nothing but a turret maker.
You arent an engineer of the 1930s. You are an engineer from 1996.
Thus Cap for all his almost 70 years of experience, would decimate your Team Fortress Bob the Builder.
What is he without the SHIELD? The pinnacle of human perfection. Even without the shield he would be able to cartwheel and somersault past every bullet and STILL jump kick engineer in the face. What can Engineer do without his turrets or guns? Be a fat construction worker.
Thing is, Cap has taken on many foes like the Engineer. Who rely on distance and guns. Cap sticks up his Shield and walks into the heat of battle with no fear. Engineer has never taken on someone that can compare to Cap.
Cap is like the speed of the scout, accuracy of the sniper, power of the demolition and absolute durability of a powered up heavy with a medic on his shoulders.
Eng cant handle that.
