SRK Artbook arthread!

Sorry I was so late posting this up guys. I just got over some flu-like symptoms (hope it wasn’t swine flu!). Thanks for being patient.

I would like this thread to be the art thread for the SRK artbook.

Any media is acceptable. Please try to keep the images at least PG-13. I don’t mind rated R, as long as its tastefully done.

The due date for these pictures is July 28, 2009. So you have plenty of time.

Mods, please sticky this thread.

Hey Man,

Im new to the forum, does this stop me from entering?

My latest work is below this thread!

So, what was the topic?

Fighting Game characters…

…but I do not know if that means no “Vs.” series or Brawl toons?
Are we going to ‘claim’ what we want to draw , or are we just drawing and hoping we don’t get 10 Akuma pictures?

I am very ready to do this, but it would be nice to have some idea of HOW we are getting there.

I started some ish a few nights ago
I plan on doing some underrated characters x3

I’m going to do Jotaro Kujo and Star Platinum. Gonna attempt it 3D pavement art styles.

Are still doing the one side art one side walkthrough thingy. It’d be neat to do ,y first 3D pavement art walkthrough to share with my fellow srkers.

P.S: SFMC?

Just draw what you feel is appropriate for the topic matter. If you want to draw Mario fighting Ryu, be my guest. Just make it look good. I’m probably going to draw Strider because I’ve always wanted to draw Strider. So as long as the character(s) are fighting game characters in some form or another, its totally fine.

Diablo, if you want in, you’re more than welcome to be in.

Now let’s see some pictures!

Should I post my entry? Or keep it private?

I’d advise everyone to pose their entries so we can get crits on them.

Necro doing his Tornado Hook. This was a lot of fun to do!

Jesus, we have almost three months and you are done already?

Yeah, so?

I spent a couple hours planning, sketching and drawing, then an hour or so to color it.

Besides, it’s been more than a week since this started.

im still planning mine out… Im thinking Abel vs Alex

Looks dope scissorman. If I were you I would play that blue back lighting more. Right now you only have it on the right edge of him which makes the figure appears flat. Move some of it into the middle because that’s how it would be if the light was coming from that angle. For that lighting to work it would have to come from behind him and we would see a little bit of that on the left edges. I would also make the light orange to unit the BG with the figure also.

Give him some indication of abs and fix the shoulder area so it doesn’t look like the neck piece is digging into his shoulders. Also the straps are running into his armpit when they should be running into the neck piece. His torso is also twisted so the straps should follow the same form.

Design-wise, I would move his right hand so they don’t overlap his legs, it will make the figure reads more strongly. If you make the whole thing a silhouette you will know what I mean.

The folds on his legs don’t make any sense or if they’re suppose to be skintight muscles they’re not believable either. I would maybe find some pictures of leg muscles in similar angles and just use that as reference.

Lastly, since you’re going for the simple shading look, I would really clean up the line work and either make the blue back lighting cel shaded or blur it more. Right now it’s kind
of painterly which contrast with the whole look of the image.

Kind of a long crit but we have 3 months! You should have no problem getting this image to kickass level.

Thanks so much man! Will get to work on all that!

I’d like to join this…

NICE SCISSORMAN! How’d you get that background?looks straight out of Udon! I forgot all about the ryu i was workin on, i’ll just finish the rest of the body and up it later this week.

Im on this. Stay tuned.

Thanks Kando! Just a couple combination of filters and layer effects. Wanted to give a cyclone illusion.

wow everyone is on this now lol!
i’ve started but i dont have fancy photo shop skills so mine will be done the old fashioned way with graphite and rubber!
