Hey! Pics tmoro.
I managed to fit my clothes better, and gain some strenght, but it’s pathethic, it should have been much more. I started strong, but slacked and didn’t pick up again until the last 3 weeks. Failed I have
Good luck to you but I wouldn’t necessarily say staying healthy and fit is all about heavy lifting.
For example, I can’t deadlift 500lbs anymore but my cardio has been increased over the years and according to my doctors I’m more healthy.
Thanks! I’m fairly confident I will get it by December. The challenge for me is to get it within a raw powerlifting meet setting where I will also be performing squat and bench press on the same day. Anyway, thanks and 1,200 lbs total is my goal in my weight class (181 lbs) I will compete in.
On another note, cardiovascular endurance is fairly easy to develop and I don’t consider it to be a good measure of fitness. That’s why people gravitate towards running (I used to run over 50 miles a week before I took up BJJ then lifting 3.5 years ago, btw) over lifting weights, which requires far greater intensity, technical tenacity and patience over time.
I don’t completely discount cardio but it’s been suggested to be highly overrated in increasing number of clinical studies in recent years and people often approach it in very inefficient ways (moderate-intensity movements over long time periods) that will have trophic effect on your skeletal muscles and joint health. Especially for sedentary population, taking up high-resistance activities (and lifting weights comes to the top of that list) will have far greater long term health benefits over activities like running, swimming and biking. Unless people are overweight/obese for their frame or just run out of breath so easily doing anything, these types of cardio activities is not something people should be obsessed about.
High-intensity cardio like sprinting and low-intensity cardio like walking have definite benefits and should find home for everybody’s physical activities to a certain extent, however.
Lastly again (to everybody in the thread): WORDS ARE CHEAP
In terms of weight, I lost like 2-3 pounds, but I started going to the gym more regularly again and made some gains.
