Well I like fighting games, and adventure games. But those seem pretty complex for someone who has never written code, or anything of that nature ever. So while I would like to make such games. Iām gonna start off small and just try to make a simple and playable platformer. Then build bigger from there.
This is a second hand opinion as Iām not a programmer but my friend has done and is doing game programming and heās always said learning programming is more about doing the research yourself than about being taught anything. You have to be proactive in finding solutions and have the kind of mind to be able to see goals and problems at a conceptually ālowā level. I think the only thing youād need to like ālearnā is the languages you plan to use for programming.
In that sense itās similar to language where, going to a class doesnāt really actually teach you a language. It can maybe help guide you, but if you arenāt taking the time to pursue it and practice it on your own time, youāre not going to come out the other side of class knowing anything. I suppose you could try to say that for most things but I think itās especially applicable for programming and language.
