It’s because they no longer give a fuck about the forums, but by asking non-related people in public places they can pay lip-service to the idea of talking to us.
But yeah, good shit to everyone in here, seriously thanks, broke as fuck this month but don’t mind paying in to some kind of donation if we can all settle on one place to be later rather than splitting into 20 odd SRK refugee forums.
Either that or we take @Pertho’s suggestion and invade Smashboards like they did us, maybe we can demand they call SFV a party game so we got context to be there.
The logo is one thing, but what about the name? Wouldn’t calling it SRK bring the same possible legal issues? Last thing we’d wanna see is the new forum getting estabilished, only to get shutdown for an oversight like this.

They will kick you out halfway the 1st month due to CPU, Bandwidth and RAM usage alone. You would need at the very least a cloud server going with a generous bandwidth throughput.
@Bunkei someone else mentioned that Vanilla Forums is open source, so it may be a solution instead of phpBB and having to do some sort of migration.
I’d be willing help if I have free time. Ideally it would be great to just get a dump of the current SRK forums but I don’t know if the owners would just give that to someone or not. Also knowing the size of the database would be something worth knowing as well to know what kind of hosting would be necessary.
I bought srk2.com cause I thought the name would be easy to remember. I’m not that concerned about the name right now though because there’s plenty of other things to worry about first. We can always change the name later and I doubt they’ll come after us anyway.
Yes, Vanilla is free and open source if you install it on your own server/hosting. I’m currently messing with that right now.
I’ve been coding for hours while listening to the Alpha 3 OST. I did not imagine this was how I was going to be spending my week…
The funniest thing would be if Jasen pulls through and this is all unnecessary, but I’ll call it a learning experience.
It’s still early days, but if necessary I’m more than happy to move up to VPS or Dedicated hosting. For now though I’m just focusing on making things work. Then once I know what the situation is I can clone all my work to whatever the final hosting solution will be and open it to the public.
Oh, bchan, I know you’re probably a long ways off from thinking about cosmetic features, but if you need video, photoshopping, or simple animation done let me know. I could lend you a hand if you need it.
I have some experience in Web coding, I can also make executible files that interact with cloud servers to do certain things although that’s most likely beyond what is needed.
