And K9999 never came back, and was replaced with another character. SNK made a mistake and corrected it. Now SNK is correcting someone else’s mistake. They’re not wrong.
Dude are you fucking crazy?! I’m glad SNKP stop making annual releases because this isn’t the 90s, KoF isn’t a sports game, and annual releases would totally burnout the series. As for that decent FF fighting game, Square Enix should just hire SNKP to make it instead.
I’m not fucking crazy, just being practical. SNK Playmore is in such a pathetic state right now, where they would benefit from selling the company to a trustworthy large publisher like SquareEnix (as in not Ubisoft, TakeTwo, EA or Activision).
Spare me from the hyperbole, SNK Playmore becoming a subsidiary of Square Enix would be much better for the company in the long run. As of right now, all SNKP is doing is sitting on aging IP and licensing out their characters to pachinko machines (oh, and taking lame legal actions against more successful publishers for trademark infringement over a parody comic). They will be filing for bankruptcy again within the next 5 years (forcing them to sell their IP anyway).
I am totally against larger companies (especially EA and Activision) acquiring smaller ones. However, this scenario would seem like a win-win solution. SNKP wins with the acquisition by being granted the funding to continue working on their projects, which in return will bring its brand back to relevancy. It would also alleviate the company from having to worry about costs of distribution (remember how much of a struggle it was to release KOF XIII in the West?).
Square Enix would win by having the potential of gaining a foothold in the fighting game scene by having a legitimate fighting game library. Capcom, Sega, Bamco, and now Nintendo, have seen huge gains in game sales, brand loyalty, and community support by sponsoring gaming competitions, I wouldn’t be surprised if Square Enix would like a piece of that pie as well.
You may disagree with my assessment, however I think this would be a smart one for both companies (much better than Sega acquiring Atlus). Thanks for being a dumbass anyway.
Do you keep track of SNKP’s finances and net worth? I’m wondering why you think SNKP is in “a pathetic state right now”, if you have some proof to back up your claim, by all means post it and I’ll gladly like to see them.
True, SNK is sitting of the KoF IP, they are licensing out their characters (sounds like you’re making sound like it’s a bad idea, they still get money anyways). The reason they are suing Square because apparently Square didn’t ask SNKP for permission to use SNKP’s characters in their comic (I sure it’s not a parody comic). I mean, go back to the first page and look at the second image, clearly that’s Terry attacking Cheng Sinzan. So if Square didn’t ask, then SNKP is doing the right thing (again, you making this sound like a silly idea). I don’t know about the distribution issue of KoF XIII, you think you can give some backstory. All I know is that Atlus distrubute it here (I think I just answered my question shrug).
My question is why does it have to be Square that should buy SNKP? Why not Konami (did some research and found out that Konami has the Bloody Roar series, but it not a popular game in demand, but it never hurts to release a new game for it) or any other Japanese company to be exact. How come Square can’t make their own fighting game with the FF characters? If Nintendo can do it, why not Square.
I never said I was against it (maybe it was my last comment that made you think that). All I said was you are f’n crazy for wanting more regular releases of KoF, it’s fine at the rate it’s going at. You’re just asking to burnout the series and I’m not a dumbass.
im more inclined to believe kromo. parody is to make fun of something. to make a hentai isnt outright making fun of something…you arent reading it for humor for the most part.
but what kromo speaks of is something american market has had for years. its basically what has kept the comic industry afloat and built new stars.
