Chrono Cross was a good game, but a bad sequel. It probably would have gone over a lot better if they didn’t tie it to CT and cut out half of the cast.
That’s just his style, it’s what he draws, have you seen the way he dresses? Exactly how he draws man. Besides the majority of his character designs lack those in excess anyway so it’s hardly as worth bitching about as people like to pretend, an he’s dialed it back a lot over the last 10 years as well. If anything he looks to be bored if belts and zippers and seems to think less of them are the way to go if his recent designs are any indication.
Besides, while good character design is important, it’s not the end all be all to whether a game is good or not, and the majority of the games he’s involved in tend to be decent to pretty good, and sometimes even excellent. Yea he’s got a few stinkers but very few don’t have some misses in their history.
While he does usually have a pretty monotone style to his designs , none of them have really bothered me personally.
He’s a designer and he does his job as a designer well. So calling him a hack because you dislike his zippers is pretty unwarranted imo.
And i don’t think it’s fair to compare him to Inafune at all. Inafune is just… Yeah you know Inafune’s story better than i do , Po.
In Japan the more belts your have, they higher your power level is.
