Krone headset rant:

This sort of related to the whole headset thing, what do people plug into when they wear headsets at these things? Like an iPod or something? Just wondering, never been to a tourney where I’ve needed them yet, but thinking about using them for EVO.
I’m also curious but I assume people do both. I connect my headphones to the t.v when at home but at a tourney I don’t think the monitor will always have a headphone jack unless ppl carry around an adapter and also if both players want to plug in a headset that means you have to carry a splitter around just in case…I rather connect to my iPod lol
lol does anyone still think unthrowable hp tk was worth it over losing ex seismo throw invincability
god shes such a terrible character now cant scare anyone from mashing throw after hitting overheads and now i get throw invincability on hp tk which has a bad hit box anyway
so fucking mad now
The reason for throw invincibility on HP.TK was cause people were mad that she got thrown out of reversal attempts mainly on wake-up & wanted a “DP” lol. It doesn’t matter to me which move has the invincibility as they both have their downfalls but I think it’s better for HP.TK to have it since EX.Seismo is still the same since Vipers got thrown out of it anyway with delayed throw, you can still blow up crouch tech or use it as a frame-trap…you just can’t throw one out at point blank.
As for getting getting grabbed after overhead just do LK.BK or if your a Boss HP.TK Feint & punish with a FFF variation depending on range & character.
Viper is not bad she’s the same if not better, Vipers forever a Boss.
The only bad thing about it is that she actually can still get grabbed out of the HP TK. Some EX command grabs have invincibility that lets them catch her on the first active frame.
how many of you guys play on 360? Do you find you have trouble executing seismo cancels when playing on ps3? I had never really attributed it to ps3 lag before but im starting to think i need to be more proactive about training on ps3 right before a tourney. What do you guys think?
I never played on PS3 but when I play on different monitors I can’t do anything advance until I adjust to the amount of lag on it ( I have a standard TV with no lag, a 36inch with about a 5 frame delay, and a 50inch with about a 1-2 frame delay…the amount of lag on my 50inch still makes no sense to me lol), it helps to not rely on visuals while doing combos & whatnot & just know the timing of the button presses.
yea I guess so, moral of the story: make sure you warm up to the setup your going to be on. lol whenever I play on ps3 i just fly across the screen while im trying to seismo cancel for a free anti air… so annoying
yeah adjusting to timing sucks but thats the reality of it. i play on PC and Arcade but it took me a bit to get use to playing on the 360 again
I was at a big tourney here in China and wow the level of play there overall is comparable if not better than anything i’ve seen in the US…Everyone there knew their stuff and most importantly everyone knew how to fight Viper. I couldn’t get away with the stupid stuff I’d always get away with fighting scrubs like unsafe seismo chains and burn kicks all day. People were actually blocking everything and it was freakin nuts like throw into the corner cross up and then cross up burn kick again. Anyway writing this so I remember what I learned and so I can help people.
- always hitting ppl with mp seismo is a bad habit when people can focus dash and punish even if i faint the next seismo or most characters can reverse ultra and catch me. need to keep ppl on their toes and mix up with feint dash up or do something else besides seismo pressure because people who know how to fight viper arent going to let you seismo for free when they know seismo xx seismo isnt a true block string and seismo xx ex seismo can just be focused and focus dash punished.
-on the topic of seismo pressure gotta think along the lines of wayne gretzky. gotta go where the puck will be not where it is…basically throw out that mp seismo or even lp seismo if ur feeling balsy when making a read your opponent is gonna wanna dash up torwards you or jump or move torwards you. zoning with seismos is extremely difficult to do though more so than fireballs and your gonna eat jump ins occasionally because the risk is so high but you have to control your opponent or your fucked. either get use to taking these kinds of risks or go pick a different character lol.
-dont always do seismo feint seismo. i feel like i could also get somewhere doing tk cancel seismo as well.
-in the viper mirror, when someone throws an ex seismo, ex seismo back and you will always win. this includes when a viper is trying to do seismo xx ex seismo just reversal ex seismo and you will win. its so stupid…or you can do the smarter thing and pick a different character so you dont have to play the mirror.
-cr.hk is actually a really good poke considering how underused it is. yeah its 12 frames start up but look at rufus and his cr.rh is also 12 frames and look how much milelage justin and ricky make off of it. true its not that great when you look at the numbers but i was making great use of it when playing against opponents who liked to stay on the ground and it was alot better than just throwing random ex seismo out. great in situations where i felt cr.mk and cr.mp were useless (most of the time they were). you also get jump torward crossup burn kick or a safe jump with hp tk feint. not a bad move at all to throw out occasionally…also i feel st.mk is underused when its also not that bad of a poke.
-speaking of hp.tk feint gotta practice using it in on wake up more to blow up safe jump oses. im already use to doing it in safe jump setups like forward throw dash feint super jump or cr.rh feint jump and i dont mean the baby way of mapping ppp but you could just get away with doing that and be like krone whos just stuck to playing console tournaments for eternity…lol
i just do hp to mp+lp. the reason why its hard is theres a tendon that controls your middle ring and pinky so your ring and middle finger dont have as much freedom to move as your middle and index. piano players know and the solution? practice. if your bored in class or work or some equally boring menial situation just alternate moving your middle and ring or index+middle and ring and you’ll loosen it up in no time. the feint is actually not that difficult considering you dont have to do more than 2 button presses.
-this is more for me but my bad habit is always doing cr.mp into mptk when its not a true block string or cr.mk… should super jump cancel this more often into a burn kick or feint dash or feint burnkick feint seismo etc
-learn more frame traps to blow up 3 frame moves. one thing i learned st.lk st.mp or st.mp cr.mp. is it even possible to do it off burn kicks? guess it depnds on the kick and the angle.
-learn safe jumps from landing a burnkick from a ex seismo if the opponent quick gets up. i know this is possible just gotta research it.
-blocking is something ive gotten alot better at especially when yoru best crouch tech is a 5 frame move that easily gets blown up. to get good at blocking means you have to study the whole casts mix up game which is a huge pain in the ass but its nescessary when your wake up options are ass and they’ve gotten even worse. cant hp.tk when opponents can do a meaty cr.lk or some other normal that hp tk completely whiffs and dont want to ex seismo too much when you can get thrown.
-when cr teching mp i could probably make more option buffering it in ex seismo because most times ive observed i get a counter hit. better than just confirming into another cr.mp mp.tk
-overall i need to learn to get rid of bad habits i developed from beating up low level players when i get blown up by high level players for the most part which is extremely annoying when most players you run into are typical scrubs who mash or run away or shit like that. also i hate playing viper when i feel like i win because the opponent didnt know the match up…
also cammy is a fuckin hopeless matchup lmao holy shit i feel like i really have no options against her. i played against xiaohai and i remember anytime id try to burnkick him hed always crouch like he knew the spacing that it would whiff and id get dpes. the way he frame trapped me was insane. i really felt like i couldnt press a single button because anytime he’d land a cr.hp or whatever id’d get owned for huge damage especially if he lands a counter hit cr.hp he’d combo into ultra so i figure i’d just block and getting thrown is the better option but what i didnt know is if cammy back throws me or a forward throw i cant remember she gets a ambiguous cross up where if she chooses which side she’s on by either doing a lk or mk dive kick into a free combo. and on top of trying to block everything cammy is building meter for ex dive kicks for even more pressure options. what the fuck. the only damage i got was doing guess seismos lucky cr.mps from crouch teching, chip or the rare occasion hed mess up and i could punish. i was just turtling the whole damn time like i had absolutely nothing to fight against 3 frame normals and cr.hp and shit. little did i know that ppl later told me he has one of the strongest if not the strongest viper in china. i know im no latif or wolfkrone but i doubt theyd do much better than i did but we’ll see when evo comes around. that guy has reactions like ricky on steroids…lol
enough rambling hoped it helped some people.,…i doubt anyone would read this though lol
Good read I agree with pretty much everything especially about ST.MK & CR.HK, sweep has long range & catches a lot of people who think they’re outside of Vipers range…ST.MK is very effective I just press it & get counter-hits lol
Hey guys I recently decided to pick up Viper and the game itself actually. What I’m struggling the most with is being able to execute everything.
I’ve managed to finish the first 17 challenges for Viper and I can do all of these with decent consistency but after this it’s like I just hit a brick wall (with the exception for challenge 20). This is in training mode though and when I jump online I just get completely bodied by everything because I enter panic mode and my execution becomes beyond worthless. I can’t even always get a single seismo to come out so all I end up doing is c.MK into MP TK and single burn kicks or EX seismos because this is all I can do with consistency.
So I was wondering if there is anything in particular that I should practice to improve my execution or if it’s just mass training of everything that has be done? Also does anyone have advice on how to become calmer when you’re actually playing vs someone so you can actually make use of what you have been practicing?
Yeah you just have to grind it out and gain them exp points until your able to bring you training room stuff to actual matches.
As for staying calm I have the same problem where I get really nervous against anyone who’s decent, I listen to music to stay calm usually JPOP or some Anime music…don’t listen to something that gets you hype though cause it’ll cause you to do stupid stuff as you’ll think your the shit & not give a fuck lol
Could someone also tell me what’s actually safe to do after you’ve blocked a fucking tatsu because that shit is starting to piss me off. Keep getting SRKs in my face but I feel like I don’t want to block because half the time its a throw instead.
I’m assuming a jab beats both srk and throw but since I can’t link it to anything because of my epic execution it doesn’t feel very rewarding to me. Does backdash work?
Delay throw FTW…You’ll block if they DP & You’ll tech if they grab.
Some DP’s catch backdash so it’ll be a 50/50…jab will beat grab but is has to be timed perfectly & it most likely loses to DP so its still 50/50. Just do a delay throw.
thx and just to make sure, the only shoto character that this wont work on is akuma right because his LK tatsu > LP srk is an actual combo right?
EDIT: I just realized that i’m retarded. ofc it still works on akuma my bad
Sup guys, nice reading, gonna try to be more active from now on. Viper is the shit.
So I went into training mode and tried some stuff out vs Akuma. I just put record on and then did j.HK, c.MK, lk tatsu, Grab / LP srk / EX srk / Backdash / Jump and actually a non-delayed throw beat all of these options. My throw came out before he could do anything when I did it after the tatsu.
So I’ve run into a problem. About 20% of the time when I do FFF I end up behind the other character after my bk which results in my ultra whiffing. What is it that goes wrong when this happens?
Happens to me to sometimes, just do MP.TK or a SJC BK instead of a SJ then BK.
