I guess I’m lucky that people actually play well in Japan… because I have only seen a few people who were gimmicky. One guy was Gouken, and all he did was jump RH, sweep RH X 2. I was pretty surprised that it was hard to counter.
If they made Ranked Mode with blind pick and set time/rounds, I’d be playing only that right now. Championship Mode seems to be fun until you get to G1… then it changes dramatically.
Lol @ general discussion turning into another strategy thread. I’ll put an end to that right now.
Thought it was kinda interesting…I was watching the bonus features on my Legend of Chun Li DVD, and it basically confirms that the character Maya was indeed supposed to be Viper (or based on her).
Pretty cool that Viper’s only been around for a short time, and she’s already been in two SF movies. I think Capcom likes her.
Even though she’s probably the least played character I run into in G1 (besides Dan).
Yeah I think the actress who played “C.Viper/Maya” in Legend of Chun Li was interesting. It kinda proved my suspicion that C.Viper is supposed to be portrayed as a multi-ethnic American character just like Angelina. Well…then again Bison was Irish in the movie so maybe that’s not totally true.
Egh. Getting sorta frustrated with Viper the past few days.
I can hold my own in G1 decently enough, but I just can’t seem to improve my execution with a few things and it drives me crazy. I can’t seem to do instant BKs on the right side of the screen consistently, and I’m still having troubles with FFF. The funny thing is that I could do FFF a lot more consistently on the 360 controller before I got an SE stick a month ago.
I’m thinking about not playing Viper in actual matches for a while so I can improve my muscle memory with her in training mode first.
Just started playing Viper “seriously” last night, after I did the normal trials out of boredom the other day and really liked how the combos came out. I played like 10-15 player matches with a friend, mainly against Seth/Gen, and I’m slowly working my way towards knowing when to do what.
Can anyone give me some tips on when a good, safe time to use seismic hammer would be (Haven’t checked around this forum much yet, so sorry if this is a duplicate) ? It felt like the only times I could get it out would be if I got lucky and he made a mistake, or if he was turtling on the opposite side of the screen. I can see that the light one’s not going to work much cause he can just throw a jab out at me, and it seems like a lot of times he can get a jump in on me if I try a medium.
I’m a pretty crappy viper, since… yeah, 10-15 plays. But, any tips?
yeah i never use lp seismo, unless i go for the uryo reset when the opp is stunned in the corner.
and yes ure correct in saying that mp seismo can be risky as well, as a normal jump in when the attack is whiffed will get u killed. this is where u mix-up feints as to make the opp jump at u and u hp tk their asses.
i usually time seismos as meaties or when the opponent is moving forward by jumping from afar (mp seismo).
Its very important in the gief match-up thats for sure
Pshh this has to be a strategy thread, it just has to. us viper players need to stick together and get all the strats we can get. We arent all godlike JP players with god like execution and beasty mixups/ mindgames. (yet…)
seismos are real nice for when your opponent techs a wakeup. feint seismo to SJBKs you can mixup with those.
can you guys hit CONFIRM blocked seismos SJC’d into another seismos when you and opponent are cros screen? that shit is hella difficult. I figure in 2 years or so I could probably get it since it seems very useful.
edit: I just thought of something else. anyone try EX seismo SJC TK? coul be useful when someone focuses your seismo and dashes forward… I havent tried that one I just threw out there lol.
I mean it’s not the hardest thing for me to do. The noise sounds different for when someone blocks a seismo or gets hit by it or it whiffs so as long as the sound is up I have a pretty good idea. Probably the biggest clue as to whether they blocked it is that you don’t see them flying high in the air and don’t hear the hit explosion sound. Even then I’m good enough where I can just look at the opponent visibly freezing in a block animation and go from there.
Sometimes hit confirming isn’t enough though cuz unless you’re going to tack on an EX seismo right after if the opponent is quick they can jump out of or backdash the next seismo. You kinda have to have a feel of what the opponent is going to do sometimes and change your timing and strength of seismo to accommodate. So if the opponent likes to dash backward after your first MP seismo you can guesstimate and go for a HP seismo to catch them during the recovery of the dash.
heh yeah it makes sense. I can see when people block and I sort of can react fast enough but when I think I have to SJC it into another one is hard. Its just a matter of getting it all in my muscle memory.
actually that gives me an idea
putting cpu on random block and working on hit confirming far seismos is a great thing, should have thought about it earlier
Whaaaaaat, I must be the only Viper who use LP Seismo consistently then.
Few places you can land it:
A-A (granted you dash back the moment they jump in)
Whiffed SRKs MP+ (If you can’t FFF consis)
After Dict. Sliding Sweep/RH (Reversal Timing)
Lv. 3 SA Crumple
Counter-Hit SA Crumple
My personal fav is using it as AA during the following:
Dash Back > LP Seis xx SJC xx f.TK > Ultra
Also if you’ve got Seismo Feint xx Seismo down perfect and fast you can do it into LP when people get confident to come in.
I baited a Rog about 3 times today like that, he Dash Punched right into a Seismo each time.
any viper players play BB. if you do i’m curious who is your main and does she play simillar to viper? ( like vipers safe rushdown yet zoning type of style) I just picked it up and I main Noel
For those of you who havent played BB: you havent experienced life yet, go pick it up now. especially if you play viper, trust me.
I’m currently too broke to afford Blazblue, haha. The characters I’m interested in are Bang, Taokaka, Carl(I know he’s supposed to be garbage, lol), Jin, Ragna and Hakumen. I’d main either one of those 6. But everyone looks really interesting in this game though.
Actually Carl is like top 5 now. He has broke stuff that no one else in the cast has. Like infinites and throw loops and crap. He’s just doesn’t fill up the screen or move quite as quickly as the top tiers.
